Is it all over for Keith Thurman?

I don't keep a p4p ATG list because it seems like a) lots of work, b) ultimately subject to constant fluid change and thus a waste of time for something that is so fundamentally subjective.

But I know enough of what passes for consensus among those who (provided they DKSAB) do bother wasting time on such lists, and I think at this point to exclude Pacquiao from a top 40 takes a Herculean amount of logic-bending, and even outside 20 requires you to actively dislike him and seek to undermine and trivialize his accomplishments.

 

Like, I think you can say that "so-and-so is probably somewhere in the 15-20 range" or "so-and-so fits in 75-100 or thereabouts"...and the narrower down you get the less murky the names (if not the ordering) involved...but where I think it gets silly/stupid is when the consensus agrees generally upon the rough placement of two fairly equal greats but people get adamant or even militant over the PRECISE number, splitting hairs on something that is anything but an exact science. Hence why you'll never see IB's p4p ATG list. Dealing in non-approximates with any degree of confidence in one's 'certainty', with all that, is fucking dumb.

As far as Garcia being mediocre, well. . . maybe that's a bit harsh. I guess I always viewed him as being relatively ordinary in most all departments but more than the sum of his parts, if you get my drift.

 

Always the same case. I remember Thurman or any of the top 3, top 5 for that matter would destroy current Pac. Pac an underdog in fantasy fights, rarely one when the fight is actually made.

He’s underdog on the bookies here but as far as I can tell, most experts have Pac winning.

 

Why would it be over? It would be to a legend if he lose. He will drop even further, but he will still be able to get another big fight. Then again, it depends how he loses as well. He still has the ability to win. Especially if he fights like his old self.
