Is it becoming more difficult for back foot fighters to win BIG fights?

Yes, it is. "Being busy" has overproportionally relevant, it's a shame.

If Khan fought more of the fight on his backfoot boxing instead of letting Peterson hit him on thee ropes. He probbly would have won.

:dealExcellent post Divac.I argued after the fight that consideration should be given to which fighter is using his attributes more fluently and effectively e.g a brawler backing his man up effectively,a counterpuncher landing far more effectively even if he's on the back foot or a slickster controlling the pace even if he's going backwards. We all know the requirements,I'm just of a mind that in the really big fights,a back foot fighter is more up against it than he once was.Only an opinion, and no more or less valid than any argument to the contrary.
Megavolt also makes a very good point about ring generalship.

I think counter-punching, rather than just fighting off the back-foot. Leonard was boxing and going backwards, but he wasn't countering, he was initiating the action whether or not Hagler chose to respond immediately after. It's the activity of an aggressor that counter-punchers depend on which has them "losing" fights.

I think De La Hoya lost to Mayweather in what was a close fight, but I couldn't justify him getting the decision based solely on the fact it was close. Yet one judge scored it plainly in his favor.

Pac won in every category excpet for the number of counterpunches if there was a category for it. Pac threw more, landed more, and did more damage. People say pac hit nothing but air and jmm bruises easy, but when floyd foughtt he absolutly schooled and knocked down jmm once in the fight and all jmm had to show for was slight puffiness on his right eye, while pac was the last airbender causing massive damage on both eyes he looked chinese after the fight, and that was all done by pacs airbending skills since people think he hit nothing air. The only reason people see it that jmm won was because it was expected that pac would demolish him. Since he didn't demolish him iit was good enough for jmm to win, which is crap.

Anyone who starts bringing up the "JMM looked chinese" drivel is instantly disqualified from being taken seriously.
I'd love to know how your logic applies to the first two fights but only in a "I wonder what that cockroach will sound like if I stand on it" sort of way.
This isn't an anti-Pacquaio thread so please don't try to turn it into one.

Khan got the nod against Maidana. I think big names with big money promoters get the decisions. Mayweather-Castillo being an example.

I think a lot of people are talking nonesense on this thread. The reason Marquez didn't get the decision against Pacquiao was because he had less name power. Mayweather would have gotten a UD. Look at Chisora Helenius ffs.

At the end of the day this is boxing and the aim of the game is to punch your opponent, there's alot of fighters too content on looking slick and neglecting their offence ala Mcclosky

Right so where is this evidence your coming up with? Casual fans had Marquez winning. I don't get why you always get these doom and gloom boxing is dieing threads. There are problems with boxing yes but you've just looked at 2,3 fights and created something in your head.
