I usually only watch the top contenders in other divisions, but I often watch fringe contenders, prospects and even journeymen in the heavyweight division. I do follow the heavyweights more closely, although the better quality fights are usually from lightweight up to cruiserweight. It's because the heavyweight champion is considered the "baddest man on the planet".
yes you’re crazy, because it means you only watch fights that are absolute slop, once every couple of months at least broaden your horizons to light heavyweight if you’re into big lads
Its not crazy, but you are watching one of the shittiest divisions in boxing. Last sunday arguably the best hw champ lost to a 38yo mma fighter with 0 pro boxing fights...
In the old days you'd be fefered to as a casual on here for speaking like that, but only HW boxing is better than only YouTuber stuff like the real casuals of today. Only joking, HW is the stellar division, gets the most attention and coverage but you're really missing out on some great fights/boxers in lighter weight divisions.
I watch HW in general and specifik top fight low weights events such as Lomachenko, Canelo etc. I didnt watch it but Crawford Spence is a good example of what to watch besides heavyweight.
As dwyer says, there's heavyweight boxing, then there's the rest. No, it's not crazy. Heavyweights are king.
I do prefer the HWs from an entertainment point of view. More knockouts, one punch at HW can tip the fight on its head. But from a technical point of view the lower weights have more depth and talent and can be just as exciting, just not in the sense that at any moment someone can get put to sleep (although that happens in the lower weight classes just not as frequently obviously).
Considering the division is neither good nor very interesting I think it's crazy, but then again people like and prefer the divisions they like and prefer.
