Yes he would and he offered to! Barker wanted no part of it.

i think macklin will ko him early on saturday. then i'd love to see a fight with barker to really see who the best in britain and probably europe before the winner goes on to fight for a world title.

I doubt Lee would have any problem going to London to fight barker even at short notice, big opportunity for him and he had already beaten Barker in the amateurs so he wold have confidence in a win. The money might not have been great but it could easily have opened the doors to a world title shot soon after for the winner. As i said im not saying Barker was afraid to fight Lee but he should have at least offered the shot to Lee. He hardly presumed Lee was going to say no did he?

Lees been hungry for world and euro title oppurtunities for the past two years or more. Do you think Lee would rather fight opponents like Cook,Lowry or Thiam for most of the year for what is probably **** all money anyways rather than go to Barkers backyard and fight for a euro title which could put him in contention for a world title fight by the end of the year? It dosent make since for Lee and after all the opportunities hes been calling for, i think he would jump at the chance to fight Barker even for little money. And Barker should have at ther least made the offer to Lee for the fight, regardless if he thought Lee would take it or not

Lee rejected a world title fight against Sturm and a Euro shot against Macklin (should he have beaten Duddy) so to say he's being hungry for titles is bollocks.

Having said that, I think he definitely would have went and fought Barker because he seems confident of beating him. Lee is a level above Barker imo. Sturm and Macklin are much more difficult fights.

But he's not going to be any better against Macklin I wouldn't suspect. His punch resistance certainly isn't going to improve. Macklin is 10 times the fightr Zbik will ever be and about a million times the puncher. He should do a similarly destructive job. I think Macklin might get a little sloppy and try and rush it and end up crowding his work. I give this 7 rounds tops still though.

Lee has not really proven to be a level above any of his rivals, Barker, Macklin or even Duddy. He might look it but he's not proven it and he actually came unstuck in his biggest test, so infact failed to make the transition to the next level so far. The opponents he's been facing aren't likely to be helping, he should have fought Vera again long ago.

This however is an easy fight. Doubt it goes past 5, its a treading water type of fight.

When did he reject a title fight against Sturm or a fight against Macklin? i heard of those fights being discussed but never heard of any serious offers being given to Lee. Maybe im wrong but i never heard that

Steward confirmed they were offered a fight with Sturm (the Lorenzo one) on On The Ropes radio show and Brian Peters along with Macklin gave details of a six digit pay day for Lee and Duddy to fight and then the winner fights Macklin on Paddy's Day. There's an article about it on Slappy's site.

If Lee wanted a European title fight he should have faced more than 1 european ranked fighter. As soon as Barker became champion he started fighting in the US again.

Lee has the history of turning down fight. Strum and Macklin.

I don't think Macklin is better than Zbick.
