Is it easier to knock someone out with a left hook than the straight right hand?

Even though the straight right hand is almost always more powerful than a left hook "is it easier to knock someone out with a left hook than the straight right hand" since it is easier to see and brace for a straight right hand (consciously or subconsciously) before it lands. E.g. Fury riding every straight right thrown by Wilder in their rematch, or Ruiz eating AJ's dynamite right hand after getting up from the knock down. Klitschko Pulev is another example, Wlad's right hand is probably stronger than his left hook but after landing both cleanly, it was the left hook that detached Pulev from his senses. Joshua also took Wlad's straight right well but it was a follow up Wlad left hook that really hurt him.

For this reason, if given the choice, it is probably better to have a powerful left hook than a powerful right hand, just because the left hook has more of a surprise factor than a straight right hand.

Hook can catch someone unawares, and faster if the person throwing it is good at it technique wise imo

No man it depends on the technique?form/fundamentals/base/hips/fluidity/timing & accuracy/getting weight into your shot/foot and hip snap/ability to not telegraph your shot and ability to set it up/balance/footwork/fluid transfer of weight/snap/knee-bend or sitting on your shot/trajactory

those are the main factors that matter off the top my head, along with planting and driving with your feet. "Technically" many will tell you you can definitely hook harder with your palm facing downwards than in and the proper trainer can teach you how, but most people I know generate more force palm-in, are more accurate and adaptable with it that way, far less likely to fracture a knuckle, and it just feels better and more natural tot hem.

Point is, outside of time proven and developed fundamental, technique, and skill - which you most certainly pay significant attention to it and detail or you are highly likely to get ****ed up, most other things in boxing vary and depend on the fighter and what comes natural to them, easier to them, and they can develop and incorporate better into their boxing.

My strait-right has always my most devastating shot -even to this day i can sleep very god young amateurs with it every now and then. But I have met/come across a significant amount of fighters whose left hooks could wreak far more carnage than my straight-rights.

A big factor in a fighters acuity to better develop looping shots/hooks as opposed to straight shots is their build - are they stocky with broad shoulders, big powerful legs and glutes, fluid hips and great balance, and a very powerful and strong core? 99/100 guys like that develop into primary and devastating hookers. Taller, longer, less densely muscled, quicker of hand and foot, better range of motion, more fluid but less knee and waist bend, fluidity, grace, and effortlessly being able to step into their punches and put all their weight behind them - they are usually the long-range deadly bombers. There are always outliers, but that is as close to rule as most.

Montell Griffin was always a fighter I admired and liked whose build and physical profile didn't fit the fighting style expected of him. But he took his traits and gifts and went against the norm and made his own style. MAD RESPECT for Montell Griffin, very, VERY underrated fighter.

Knockouts normally come from when the head rotates or snaps around

This can be achieved with both a hook and straight

A hook will normally more successfully achieve rotation

Left hooks done well are most beautiful.
Yes, they are more likely to 'come from nowhere' and not be seen, travel a short distance and land as the puncher turns in through the target.

I wouldn't say "easier" to knock someone out, but definitely a deadly weapon when executed to perfection.

Yup this confirms it - Wilder can not beat Fury. No matter how powerful his right hand is it will never surprise Fury, so the chances of Wilder one shotting Fury is almost zero.

It’s the punch you don’t see that knocks you out, there’s so many variables that this is a never ending argument/discussion.
But it’s true that no matter what punch you take if you don’t see it coming then you can’t ride the impact, you can’t move your feet and your head to prepare for the impact.
Add to that coming on to a punch can be even worse, opposing forces will generate a more powerful impact.

Um, the first fight alone proves you wrong.
And in the second fight Wilder landed the right as well in either the first or second round.

Wilder´s big issue is his **** poor footwork. He literally crosses his legs when pushed to the back foot. It´s insane.

Wlad’s left hook against Pulev looked more brutal than most of his right hands.
