Yes, I think so, before his first bout with Andrade, lots of experts ranked him #1. When he won in this controversial fashion he lost a lot of credibility, but regain it by putting a statement and knocking out Librado Andrade. Kessler was first and got beaten by Andre Ward. IMO, you can't be ranked#1 on one victory. Its a great victory indeed, but Bute has been champion for a longer time and KO 3 of his last four opponents (Berrio, Zuniga and Andrade). He was #2 and with Kessler's lost he should be ranked #1 and Andre Ward#2

did anyone really expect him to lose though? in most situations like his the fighter who won so be it unfairly.... goes on to win the rematch usually in dramatic or clear fashion

his ko definitely surprised me (although his victory didnt) but I think it is a little early to just declare him the front runner #1 smw... he needs to get a few more scalps under his belt to be the clear cut #1... i mean his biggest win prior to this is fugencio zuniga...

Carl Froch is number 1 , after the lose of Kessler. Andre track star Ward moves up to # 2 .

He's there abouts but I wouldn't put him top at the moment. Some of the members of the Super 6 have a legitimate claim to it as well.

If one of the Super 6 fighters cleans up in the tournament then they would have a better claim to it, no matter what Bute does in the same time.

A fight between the winner and Bute will obviously then be #1.

I think so. He's achieved more @ SMW than anyone else.

That's what makes it a statement. And normally, people that achieve a KO against an opponent(Andrade on Bute) usually do it again but even quicker in the rematch.

IMO, it was a KO(Andrade on Bute) and he showed guts accepting to fight him right away(Bute) AND he not only KO the guy that Koed him last time but he KOed the unknockable so That is a Statement

:rofl Froch was not number one even before Bute knocked Andrade out. His win against Taylor was less impressive than Abraham, who was leading on points before the ko, and he got a gift against Dirrell. How can he jump to the number one spot?

I think Bute, Ward and Abraham can claim the number one spot but it's not a clear situation. IMO, Froch doesn't diserve it, you can read my previous post.

So, it's fair to put Bute number 1, as it is to put the 2 other guys. Ward and Abraham's next fights will tell us more, Bute's next fight will also.

I don't think they are any better than Bute's wins. Taylor's just a name & was shot, Pascal isn't neccessarily better than some of Bute's opponents and Dirrell has done nothing.
