As much as I like Bute, I think Ward is #1.

Well the guy i was taliking too seems to think he can predict the future so I thought I'd give it a go.
I may be wrong of course but IMO if Bute was in the super 6 he'd win it.
doesn't matter tho, he'll face the winner providing catastrophy doesn't strike.

That's why it's called a prediction. And that's why fans often pick the wrong guy. Me included. I think bute would win easily against Froch and Taylor, he woul win against Kessler and Abraham. He wold probably win against Dirrell. his toughest fight would be against Ward.

Bute would also be Ward's toughest fight.

It's not an outrageous claim, nor is it categorically true such that you can't argue against it.

Therefore, my voting "yes" in the poll is strictly in response to the titular question ("Is it fair...") and not a tacit endorsement of the claim that he is in fact the #1.

And to answer your question. At the moment i dont think there is a true number 1 SMW ask again in 4 months.

:good I agree. Bute will be considered as #1 by many but if one guys wins all of his "Super 6" bouts then he should be considered #1, until he and Lucien fight, which should remove any doubt.

Yea ko Andrade means Bute is number 1 smw lol. It don't work that way. Bute hasn't beaten a very good fighter in his career so to put him in the number 1 smw just cause he ko Andrade is ******ed. Kessler already beat Andrade. If Kessler was going to the body like Bute did, Kessler would win by ko as well. But a win is a win in which Kessler already did. The same Kessler that Ward beat.

Why was he not invited mate? It seems f****** silly to have a "Super 6" tournament to find out who is the best fighter at 168 and not invite Bute, because the winner of the "Super 6" will have to fight Bute to find out who really is #1!

Bute was already number 2, so I don't rank him number one just because he ko'd Andrade. I look at the rest of his career. There are only three winners in the super six tournament. Abraham won against Taylor, who lost to many other people in the past years. Taylor has done nothing in the division so far. Bute's wins are better than that. Froch looked bad against Taylor (he was losing on points) and even worst against Dirrell. The kind of win that does not make a boxer climb the rankings, except for his fans maybe. Ward has a superb win, but a single one. Why would it be unfair to put Bute number 1?

:goodspot on,i knew there was good reason not to include bute in the supersix.
now there will have to be a big money fight at the end to prove who dominates smw..............nice.

Well, you just called Showtime people ****ing silly because that's what happened.

Don't tell me you were buying the super six promotion and thought they were actually the 6 best fighters at that weight! :rofl
Dirrell was not even in the top ten but he's in the super six. Andrade was in the top 5 and wasn't invited. Bika was ranked higher than Ward and Dirrell and wasn't invited. Abraham had fought only against Miranda and was still a MW. That's a super six tournament, not the six best tournament.

Many other people? Before facing Abraham, Taylor has lost to 2 fighters and thats Pavlik and Froch. Froch beat Pascal who at smw was a real good talent fighter that is better then all of Bute opponents. Style wise, Ward and Dirrell slick styles would beat Andrade. Kessler as you know already beat Andrade. Froch vs Andrade would be a very good fight but i think Froch would win by decision.
