just because cotto anhililated quintana, and quintana clearly beat williams, is that a fair statement??? I think cotto will stop him.
You can't use that logic. However, Cotto would be a bad matchup for Williams, regardless of prior results. Heck, if Margarito rematched Williams, it would probably also be a bad matchup. He's been exposed in two ways - leaves the body wide open, and leaves himself open for counters. He's also shown that you can't beat him by purely sitting back in the pocket and waiting to counter. Fortunately, Cotto doesn't have stamina issues and could press to the body all fight, and he's an underrated counterpuncher. As long as he doesn't make the same mistake Margarito did in the first fight, Cotto would win pretty convincingly, unless Williams suddenly discovers how to use his length to his advantage.
cotto would destroy williams. Williams is too slow and uncoordinated because he weight trains his body so hard at a weight he shouldn't be fighting at. Cotto would beat him to near death. The height won't even be an issue.
If williams would learn out to throw his jab with force and then sit on his punches no one could beat him in the division. Paul Williams needs Manny to train him.
Well, it's not neccessarily because Quintana beat Williams and Cotto destroyed Quintana, but more because Cotto is streets ahead of that previously overhyped freakshow
The Quintana which defeated Williams was much better than the one that was hammered by Cotto, so I don't quite see the logic. Basically, Williams was too slow for Quintana throughout, Carlos figured a way to win, and basically did it one handed. I agree, though, that if Williams went to Manny Steward and moved up to 154 (weakest division IMO) he would destroy everybody.
I don't know if he's much better now than then...he had a good gameplan against Cotto (and was somewhat successful) until Miguel said "**** this ****" and killed his ribs. Paul was so busy head hunting he never even tried to pick apart Quintana's body. Which leads into this discussion: Williams never defends his body. That would mean Cotto would have the biggest target in his life. He would literally just pound away at Paul's body until Paul gave out. It would be like watching someone chop down a tree. Keep chopping and then...wham...down goes tree.
Not true. The Quintana who fought Williams was the same Quintana who fought Cotto and Joel Julio both. The only difference being the opponents. Cotto had the ability to make adjustments and cut off the ring as needed to chop Q down. Julio and Paul did not.
styles make fights, mayweather would have a easier time beating paul then cotto.i think paul would ud cotto actually.cotto is not a slick counter puncher.hes walk you down body destroyer, i think paul would rather fight a guy like margo and cotto then carlos and mayweathers.
I said that Cotto would destroy williams long before the loss to Quintana. Cotto is far too strong and williams is easy to hit and does not have the punching power to kwwp Cotto off of him. Cotto by late TKO
