Yes I think Cotto would t/ko Williams. Williams has absolutely no power behind his punches (they are not straight punches). He gets way too close and throws looping shots that have zero power behind them. Cotto would give him no respect and walk right through him

I think Cotto cuts off the ring as good as anyone in boxing right now, which would allow him to catch Paul Williams. If Margarito, who seems a bit slow at times, was able to catch Williams on a regular basis, especially towards the second half of the fight, I have no doubt Cotto would have any trouble finding the big, lengthy Paul Williams.

What is interesting is how the respect for Williams on this board has practically washed away after one fight. I personally never bought into the of high caliber of fighter that many made him out to be, so I knew it was only a matter of time before someone would come around and derail the train. The same thing kind of happened to Diaz... he lost, now he is considered crap? I guess like they say, you win, they all love you, and when you loose they kick you while you are the ground.

PW just doesnt have the power to make fighters respect him.....i can't see him hurting any of the top welters....which could spell trouble but if can manage to keep any of them off him and throw that flicker of a jab he has a chance in any fight just depends on the other fighter really...they cant let him dictate anything like Margo did in t first couple rounds.

This x can beat y, because y lost to z thing isn't always necessarily true. It depends on a lot of things like fighting style. Sometimes a fighter can be tailor made for another, no matter how much better he may seem.

comon now Cotto eats Williams alive.

not because he easily beat Quintana who easily beat Paul Williams but if anything that is a good indicator that Cotto is likely a class above.

Styles makes fight. You can't say Cotto would destroy Williams based on that analogy. However, I do think that Cotto would wear down Williams for a late TKO. From the fight with Margarito you can see that PW doesn't take well body punches.

Oh come on jecxbox, are you still upset that Favre retired??? It's ok, I understand it will take a while to get over him, but you shouldn't let your mourning cloud the logic we all know you have. Quintana that fought PW is lightyears better than the Q that fought Cotto. Easily more experienced and skilled.

One thing that I can give PW is that he has a hell of a chin. He got hit flush so many times by margo and q and didn't buckle or anything. Even though he came out of both those fights looking like this...---->:!:

:patsch I don't know how many times I continue to read or hear this wrong and inaccurate statement about Cotto. When Cotto first came up through the ranks. He was a patient and effective counter puncher, and still is. The Mosley fight itself should of done away with this misconception.

He Counter Boxed Mosley's head off in the later rounds. Also For anyone that doubts this? All they have to do is look up the Mosley fight or just watch his earlier fights for yourself. That'll help prove my case, and stance on this subject.

So while Cotto may not be the Defensive Wizard that PBF is (who really is). Cotto is about as complete as a fighter can be all around, and the crazy thing is that he's still learning and improving with each and every fight. By no means is he a finished product yet.

He is a counter puncher but I would not call him a "slick" counter puncher. His footspeed is way too slow to compare him to the likes of mayweather or even quintana. He is a very versatile fighter though which fights in the best style to win. In his own words when he saw that he wasn't going to KO Mosley he switched to counter punching.

Against Williams I think that he would walk right in and walk williams down.

I dont think Williams is mature enough at this point to be competitive with Cotto.

    And in other news:
Rustico Torrecampo would have beaten Erik Morales, Marco Antonio Barrera and Juan Manuel Marquez because he KO'd Pacquiao and Pacquiao beat those guys....

Ulises Flores would have been able to beat Oscar Larios, Jhonny Gonzalez and Rafael Marquez because he beat Israel Vazquez who beat those guys...

And did you know that Victor Rabanales would have been able to beat Israel Vazquez, Mark "Too Sharp" Johnson and Tim Austin because he beat Rafael Marquez who beat those guys?
