Is it fair to say now that Calzaghe's win over Hopkins trumps any win Mayeather has?

How is winning a close, debated SD while being dropped over a 45 year old Hopkins with his best wins behind him and two divisions below as good as winning a decision by a 13 point margin while scoring a knockdown over a 35 year old Marquez with his best win yet to come at the same weight?

Marquez, by most accounts, isn't even Floyds' best win.

Floyd probably has several victories better than Calzaghe's over Hopkins, no matter which reasonable standards of measuring a win that you can use.

Which proves he wasn't! How many "Was Sugar Ray Robinson great?" threads do you see on here?

Not good to use controversial wins in that manner. Many thought Hopkins won, despite gassing half way through the bout. Add to the fact that all the significant punches of the fight were landed by Hopkins, while Calzaghe landed less than 50 punches through 12 rounds. You can't really use that in a comparative way. He didn't look good at all in that fight.

Hopkins win over Roy has no significance at all. Fans were robbed of a rematch by both of them when they were in their primes. A damn shame we didn't get to see what a 168 pound Hopkins could have done with a Prime Jones Jr. Hopkins definitely was more improved then Jones Jr. was during that time frame.

Yes, Calzaghe made Hopkins look like a fool......................Void has been running from Pac for years, fans want to see that fight but Void's fear keeps him from it. Void makes huge money fighting fighters he is guaranteed to beat. Void is a fraud................

Calzaghe barely eeked by a 42 year old man and was lucky to get the win then hid in Wales from a rematch..............Pac had been running from drug testing for years.......Until Ariza left his camp now he's all for it........The fans wanted Pac to fight Mayweather in 09 but Pac's fear of needles prevented that.......Now Pac is broke and desperate and begging........Pac is content to continue to fight Top Rank rematches for peanuts........Pac is an idiot........

My answer for if Calzaghe's win over Hopkins trumps anything Mayweather has done is

Calzaghe Who?, Seriously Froch also far overshadows Calzaghe at this point.

nothing on gibbering Joe's resume comes close to what Floyd has done.

Floyd might be a gibberer himself sometimes but Gibbering Joe Cowardzaghe made it an art form.

Lol I cant believe this is a thread. Floyd has made a career off beating high level fighters. I can agree with the "no ATG in their prime" but he has beat ATG's when he was out of his prime too, and has beat them when they looked impressive. Cal's best win is a 45 year old B-Hop. That says a lot.
