Is it fair to say now that Calzaghe's win over Hopkins trumps any win Mayeather has?

Of course. Mayweather's greatest win is a green Canelo at 152 catchweight. Bhop, before and after the Calzaghe fight has done legendary stuffs.

Why wouldn't I say it? Corrales was an undefeated champion, ranked p4p number 4 or number 5 (can't remember exactly) when Mayweather fought him. How is that not a better win than a 45 year old Hopkins? I would like to see what arguments you can come up with belittling the Corrales fight.

    First off, Hopkins was 43.

Secondly, gotta love people simplifying his age. You know, because he is not a champion right now or anything...

corrales was a good win for Floyd, but personally I would say that a 43 year old Hopkins is P4P better than any opponent Floyd has ever beaten

behind roy jones, i'd rank Hopkins as the best fighter of his era

It's a big win but not as big as beating bhop. Hopkins > Corrales and the only argument you can make is that the Corrales win is dominant.

    mayweather does not fight 40somethings.

when he does, then he will be better than calzaghe, according to calzaghe nuthugger idiots.

so bring on now fat Julio cesar Chavez please. and baldie barry mcguigan, when mayweather beats them two then he can brag aout being better than joe calzaghe.

in fact, Floyd may as well just glove up and try to beat his father mayweather senior, in order to emulate calzaghe. LOL yeah hes probably already beat up his dad, so that's proof that Floyd is better than joe.

Career wise, no doubt Hopkins has had a better career. But Corrales was viewed upon as a beast at the time of the fight, whilst Hopkins lost to Jermaine Taylor twice in a row only recently. Calzaghe was odds on favourite prior to the fight, whilst Corrales Mayweather was pretty much even odds. Calzaghe squeaked a decision, whilst Mayweather destroyed Corrales.

but what if joe comes out of retirement and beats up 2 fiftysomethings?
then Floyd will need to go beat up to 50somethings I order to be equal to joe!

joe cal can always stay one step ahead.... according to his dumb fans.

You guys don't see the difference between beating a prime Chico and a 43 year old Hopkins?

If you're talking prime Hopkins, sure. But saying he is prime, and is therefore an amazing win because he's beaten the likes of Shumenov, Murat and Pascal is just off.

It was a good win for Calzaghe, and well earned despite the ugliness that fight brought out in each fighter. But the aged Hopkins can't cope with speed, or volume, and Calzaghe had both. Take a look at the list of guys Hopkins has beaten since turning 40. What do you see, and what do you not see?

Hopkins hasn't been prime since about 2004.
