Is it fair to say now that Calzaghe's win over Hopkins trumps any win Mayeather has?

I can see you ignored the part of my post where I have said Hopkins has also looked complete **** in certain fights since losing to Joe.

It is amazing that Hopkins' dedication has allowed him to do this at this high of an age.. But he is a genius at picking fights.. It is he that gets credit for this, not Calzaghe.

I don't like the word impossible I guess.

And I don't like how you note what Hopkins did after losing to Joe as it solidifies the win, but outright deny the possibility and reality of Floyds win getting better if Canelo goes on to do even greater things than Hopkins after losing to Joe.

23 is "too young" but 43 is "just right"?

    43?

I would use "tyrannical", sounds more oppressive.

If I truly thought in my heart that Cal won and I rooted for Cal...then that win would trump any of Floyd's wins.

It is not a possibility because Alvarez was too young. Mayweathers win against alvarez will always be against a young 23 year old who wasn't ready. That will never change no matter how much Alvarez accomplishes.

If hopkins had retired or become a stepping stone you would have a point. Instead he went on to fight another 6 years and win 4 more titles.

He might not have been in his prime but it is an absolute fact that its a better win than a 23 year old Alvarez. Nothing will ever ever change that fact.

why? suppose Alvarez goes undefeated and retires 66-1.

the structure of the argument would be identical. You're using a fighter's performance after a fight to indicate the quality of a previous win.

if that can be done for hopkins "see, he wasn't too old" it can be done for alvarez "see, he wasn't too young".

This wasn't the tune anyone was singing before the fight... If I recall a few people tuned in on this fight, why would so many buy a no hoper fight?

indeed. people were saying "no way does Mayweather accept the fight against Canelo". No doubt Windigo was saying that as well.
