A rematch with Floyd would be another megafight? 1. I think people would think that Canelo would try a Maidana-esque style instead of boxing. (or getting out-boxed as the case was) He is faster and hits harder than Maidana. 2. He would have beaten a guy who is considered a slick boxer and a top, dangerous Jr. Middle. (by many people.) The points against it would be that Canelo has stamina issues and probably couldn't throw that much leather, and some would say Lara is over rated. I personally think it would be THE fight the fans want and would do close to 2 mil buys... but I also think Canelo loses against Lara by 8-4 or worse. Just my opinion but we'll see in July.
Dude Canelo can't do it. He would have fought the first fight like that if he could but he just doesn't have the stamina. If the fight was at 160 then maybe but Mayweather would never fight him at 160.
I'm not saying Canelo can... in fact, I actually said that he couldn't. The perception among casuals, and the fight could be marketed as such, could be that Canelo would try to bully instead of box.
O ok. Yeah i could see it being marketable but honestly I don't see it selling as well as the first one. People were thoroughly disappointed with the first fight and I think that would affect sales for the rematch.
I have a feeling they would also harp on the 152 while building up the fight. Their proof would be him winning the next 2 fights at 155 with ease... so there would be a lot of people who I think would believe that to be reasonable. I agree that it wouldn't do as well as the first... but then, those numbers were bananas. No one else can do those kind of numbers right now.
Given the relative performance of Floyd PPV with and without Canelo, if he beats Lara he could easily demand no catchweight. Maybe they dont fight again, but if they did it would likely be on Canelo terms. And yeah, the reason it was such an easy fight was because he was very badly drained. Maybe Canelo doesnt win at 154, but it would absolutely be a different fight.
