Is it fair to say Wlad is generally not that entertaining a HW?

Personally, I find his style quite frustrating to watch given his size, jab, speed and power. His arsenal is lacking any inside game, body attack or uppercut. He is unncessarily safety first even when his opponent poses little risk - the Rahman fight was a prime example. His early career was good to watch. His style works for him and he hasn't lost for years so you can't fault him. A win is a win at the end of the day.

Guess it is. He knocks them out, though. Insane KO ratio.

A lot of the reasons why Wlad is boring are the same reasons why people think Mayweather is boring.

He takes his opponents out of the fight, and makes them think they can't win.

Both Wlad and Mayweather are risk averse, so the fights can sometimes be boring.

It is NOT fair to say. A glass-jawed fighter is ALWAYS entertaining. Anything can happen at any instant. Plus with Wlad's questionable "lifestyle," endurance can always be an issue.

How can some say if you don't appreciate Wlad's style you are not a true boxing fan? complete BS.

I've been into the sport since I was a little kid thanks to my family. I've given back to the sport by paying for PPV's etc etc. When I got into the sport I didn't get into it because of perfectly executed game plans, I got into it to see highly skilled fighters use their superior speed, toughness, power, reflexes.

Wlad thinks too much in the ring therefore I do not like his style. And before you boxing experts come out i'd like to point out that I didn't say I don't like a fighter that thinks/uses his head, I said he thinks too much. He is a big, strong boxer and I think that if he just let his abilities go he would make much quicker work of his recent opponents.

His brother and Lewis would beat him IMO.

Post-Steward Wlad is boring and tedious to watch. Same two or three punches round after round, hardly any combinations, lack of killer instinct, horrendous amount of clinching (which apparently is always the opponents' fault) and just generally very boring and tedious.

Pre-Steward Wlad was a different kettle of fish.

How many times was he hit in the Mercer fight? How many times was he hit in the Shufford fight? Those are two of Wlad's most exciting fights, and he dominated them from start to finish. So don't give me that ****.

A current Wlad fight makes even one of Lewis's more sedate performances look like a fun-filled action fest. Lewis knocked guys out when they should have been knocked out, not four or five rounds later. How quickly would a prime Lewis have dispatched of the shot old Rahman that Wlad let linger until the seventh round? ****, how quickly would the pre-Steward Wlad have let him last?

Domination can be exciting. Tyson dominated opponents and blasted them out of there. Lewis dominated a lot of opponents in similar fashion. Pre-Steward Wlad dominated guys like Mercer, Shufford, Byrd, McCline, Schulz; very few of those fights was boring because Wlad was constantly being the aggressor, coming forward, throwing punches in bunches and all that jazz, in general showing showing himself to be the bigger badass in the ring.

I appreciated that Wlad tried to end things in the Peter fight, but he looked so awkward in that final barrage that it seems like his general fluidity and finishing skills have diminished from his earlier days. I hope not. But the Mormeck fight was terrible, Haye Audley mk. 2. Sure it ended early, but the rounds that preceded it were tedious beyond belief. What was the point of the clinching and the draping himself over Mormeck in the first round? What was the point of even letting it get out of the first round in the first place?

I'm getting tired of hearing how it's always the opponent's fault for the clinches. Why did we never see this amount of clinching in Wlad's early fights? That's right, because he fought on the inside or pushed his opponent off him whenever they got close. Wlad's 100% responsible for the clinching that goes on. You can even see him lunge forward and drape his arms over his opponent's shoulders. It's got nothing to do with size difference and everything to do with tactics.

Hopkins is boring as well, and a sore loser to boot.

Haye's a twat, but he's got that edge of the seat feel to his fights that makes them somewhat exciting to watch live. With Wlad you know exactly what you're going to get every time.
