I box for a small club with a few pro's who fight/have fought on TV in the UK, London to be specific. I have every intention of getting that far, to the level where I can box as a proffesional on TV. However when im older (im 17) ive always planned on getting to America to live, but thinking of a boxing career it makes me think twice. Obviously America is a lot larger, so theres a lot more boxers, theres a lot more journeymen in the pro's etc im thinking logically it would be easier to make it as a pro in the UK than the US (I mean fighting on TV level) its more tight knit in the UK especially in London where im from. Am I right? is it easier to build a buzz here than over there?
Depends what you bring to the table and who see's you in the US and the UK. Also depending on your weight and where in the US
Smaller titles mean more in the UK. For example, if you're even in possible contention for the British title you'll get exposure. That's not a very high level at all. In the US, state titles are meaningless and the national or North American title is too. You pretty much have to be a world title prospect if you want to fight on TV, unless you suck bad enough to be chosen as an opponent for someone who's good, which you don't want. So if you're looking to be anything less than a world tile challenger and still get exposure, stick with the UK.
