...and that we have an undisputed heavyweight champion? honestly, i think this is the only division where the belts matter. i feel there's so much history in the division that it's important to have an undisputed champ. we are currently mired in possibly the worst heavyweight era ever but i'm hoping an undisputed champ could bring life to the division and have a superstar emerge.

It could go two ways... with a unified champ the division has a "target" and eventually a legitimate challenger will arise and we will have lots of anticipation of a great fight... or we could have a splintered title that produces good midrange fights compared to just blowouts if the champ is so much better than the contenders... I loved the era of Tyson when everyone knew who the champ was... when the Alphabet soup era came... it was just not as exciting ...

Remember it was Tyson who came into the alphabet titles era. He just happened to grab them all.

As for the OP, yes it is important.

It is not important to me. There have always been claimants and claimants. The issue to me is, will they fight!

If the titles are unified it definitely gives the top guy a bit more prestige. It means he's either beaten the man, or beaten the other top fighters in the division consecutively. Also, it means there are no paper titles to aim for. If you want a belt you have to fight and beat the best guy in the division. I'd love to see Wlad claim all 4 titles when Vitali retires, but politics will no doubt get in the way

    Very important

It is very important for the general public to understand without confusion whom the real Heavyweight champ is

For me it's unimportant and neither is the "lineal" title .
Vitali is 40 , Wladimir was the best Klitschko only while Vitali was retired .
A win over one of them or even both of them can not be considered like it could have been 10-7 years ago. I also think that Byrd ruined Vitali and the one that rules the world is the damaged goods of what he could be . And the Byrd fight outcome is legit for me as much as it gets. Unless someone convinces me Vitali came in injured to that fight , or had a previous injury of the same nature in the same part .

Doubtful they ever will be again, at least if the WBA has anything to say about it.

The upcoming Haye/Wlad fight won't even be a proper unification as the WBA will no doubt vacate the strap and elevate Haye to "Super Champion."

This will be the second time the WBA belt was vacated before a unification fight.

If you want to know who the top man is your just going to have to use common sense. Ring Belt is as close your going to get.

  9. at the moment i dont think its overally important the heavyweight division is weak and fans are more interested in the lower weight classes today

I wish one of the Klit bros would **** the other one off enough to even get them thinking about exchanging in the ring.

Yes! The heavywieght champ of the world should be known ,by young and old, male and female, from north to south pole and everywhere in between, as the toughest and most respected 'john everyman' in the world.

Boxing is so ruined now in that department that I don't even care no more.First, they abolished the 15 round title limit, then added the IBF, then WBO.Too much has happened, I'm numb to it all.
