Is it just me or does Roy sound like he doesn't really believe in himself anymore?

i said the same thing...but after the final episode of of 24/7...i think he's found himself all the motivation he needs to not only believe in himself but give him that old confidence back

Roy hasn't believed in himself in about 5-6 years. His physical skills are still there it's his mentality that's no longer there. No confidence at all. Let's hope I'm wrong!

Roy just seems to be at a different level of psychology now. Before he was loud and flashy, now I'm just not sure. I don't know.

I wrote this after watching a Setanta interview. I've only casually watched one of the 24/7, and sort of switched off when it turned into farmers weekly.

There is no doubt that he was humbled with his 3 fight losing streak. It seems that he has learned from this experience...but, at what price?

I have seen Roy regain a little of his confidence in his last 3 fights, but will it be enough to overcome Joe Calzaghe? RJ obviously thinks so...I don't think he would have taken the fight if he didn't.

I can see Roy doing well if he can earn Joe's repspect early. but, he is going to have to be smart and pick his punches well.

    Latest comment by Jones :

The fight is almost here and I just can't wait to get into the ring and do my thing against Calzaghe. It's been a long training camp and a long promotion and now I am ready to get it on, just ready to fight. Fighting is in my blood.
I made the weight today without any problems -- 174 ½ pounds, same as Joe. All the talking is over now and it's finally going to be time to fight. I have imagined how this fight will go many times. I won't give away all my secrets, but here are few things you should look for from me.
I know Joe throws a lot of punches. He's a volume puncher, so I think you have got to feint him out of throwing so many punches. Or you have to make him throw more punches than he wants to throw. Those are the two options against Joe. I ain't figured out which one I want to do, but one of them will do. Merk (trainer Alton Merkerson) and I have talked about that.
One thing I know won't be a problem is the fact that Joe is a southpaw. I have fought lots of them and done very well against them over the course of my career. They're awkward, but I have figured them out. I guess I am just kind of good like that.
I think I'll probably start a little slow, let him start fast and then walk him down. I want to start out slowly because I want to see where he is coming from. I don't know exactly what I will see. You never know until you stand in front of a guy. But I think it's going to be a long night for him. If I find out he can't punch too well, how you gonna keep me off of him? So I want to find out right away what he punches like.
If I discover he can't really punch, it's over. If he can't punch, I will be in his face and coming right at him. I will duck hunt all night. If I find out he's really strong and a good puncher, I will box and be smart and use my skills. I don't know exactly what the man has but I will find out right away.
I do think my straight right lead will be important. Bernard Hopkins hit him with that at will during their fight in April. I was at ringside for that fight and I picked up certain things watching Joe fight Bernard. If Bernard could hit him at will with that shot what do you think Roy Jones can do? I should be able to hit him with that too because I am lot faster than Bernard.
I don't know exactly how it's going to end, but I will win either with a dominating knockout or decision. I'm going to put on a show for all of you. I hope you all enjoy the fight.

It sounds like Jones is WAY overanalysing...............proabably because he doesn't believe in himself.
