No, certainly not. Steward was kidding himself, Martinez landed bombs throughout both rounds, there were big shots on the ropes in the first round that Paul didn't like a whole lot, though having a good beard he got on with things. Not long before the punch that flattened him a shot landed that was very similar.
Not just you, I think that was a good summation of the events there. Williams was someone they had a lot invested in. They were definitely starting off the bat on his bat.
Haven't you heard? He just got knocked out cold. Last time I checked the ESB rules, getting knocked out means that you have a glass jaw no matter what the circumstances.
I felt that williams won it barely on activity...however I also felt Williams was getting hit by the harder shots and it was just a matter of time before Sergio hurt him...but I didint expect he would get knocked out cold
I had Martinez winning the first round and controlling the action up until the point of the knockout. It didn't come from out of nowhere... Martinez was landing hard shots in the first round and I thought to myself "Williams is gonna get knocked out." It just came a lot sooner than I expected.
Or by the PW myth. He's a very good fighter, but by some of the claims his fans have made as to his effectiveness you'd think he was SRR all over again.
I would like to punch Zakman in the dick. Williams practically threw his face at the biggest shot Martinez has ever thrown, it would be like clubbing someone with a hammer and questioning their resilience.
Who cares. The fight went only one minute into the second round. It's irrelevant who won the first. Martinez knew exactly what he was throwing. He saw his opportunity and wound that **** up.
The HBO team was definately pro Williams. Just check the fight again, all of Williams punches were grazing, nothing clean. Martinez kept landing that overhand left and followed up with powershots. Pro boxing is not the olympics, just because you throw a ton of punches doesn't automatically mean you win the round. Its clean punching, ring generalship and aggression. Martinez had 2 of 3.
True that. Whenever I see a KO like that I just expect the guy to be in a coma. I was surprised Williams got up and seems totally ok now judging by his post fight interviews.
