Personally, I thought he was OK but just hamming it up to get the ref to do something about it. However, I could be totally wrong!
It was a KD. But a technicality. He slipped but he got grazed by a shot immediately as he slipped. That gets called a KD. I think he was a bit shocked and stirred by the foul blow. It was up there with Maussa against Viv Harris for it's outlandishness. He properly thumped him, and in the position Haye was in (leaning on his forearms / elbows) he couldn't even dodge... quite funny really. Monte was good comedy value. However was it not in the fifth - and did Haye not stop the fight within a minute, tops? All in all it was a minor footnote, nothing of consequence.
Firstly, thanks to those who agreed I made a good point in my Hide-Haye comparison, its appreciated. However, I was somewhat schocked to read some of the bile against me for saying Haye reminded me of Hide, to say that I am a troll & someone who lives in their own world & makes up **** to suit my own agenda & so on & so forth... Out of order. I mean I said Haye could beat Valuev if they fought, said Haye could win a heavyweight world title but would fall short against the very best & all of a sudden Im the bad guy again:-( Those who took pop at me for not being overly impressed with Hayes chin, & EXPLAINING why, you need to take a long hard look at yourselves. Maybe you will ignore Haye going down like a ton of bricks against a Barrett who was as crazy as Oliver McCall, just like Setanta but I wont. Cos I tell it like it is. Always will, always will do. & IMO, Hayes chin just wont stand up against the best. Just like Hide. & remember folks, if any of you are old enough to remember that is, Hide was a damn fine heavyweight in his prime. The fact you took it as an offensive statement that I compared haye to herbie says more about your boxing knowledge than it does mine. Looks like I called the mood of ESB brit forum wrong on this one, looks like Haye is the new hero round these parts! The criticism I received for my comments even caught me by surprise! But hey, I stand by my opinion that Haye is good & will take down most in the heavyweight division, but he doesnt beat Vitaly or Peter. Think about it again people, was that really such a bad thing to say? I wont hold my breath waiting on apologies from those who decided to make things personal though... Im too long in the tooth for that.
I think he was just trying to make the offence by Barret look worse than it was. Simlar to Hopkins v Calzaghe
I agree with the Hide comparision, both are chinny use speed and reflexes and have bad or no defence at all. Haye just waits to throw a right hand and he will be a KO at HW waiting to happen sadly. Valuev's size and holding could give Haye problems though, Haye has no Inside game at all.
Be careful max, or you will have Fluxy & the so-called noob welsh guy saying that you too are a trolling self obsessed twat cos you dont think Haye will destroy all who stand before him. You have been warned...
Haye himself acknowledges and states that he is a possible KO waiting to happen and that, that is partly why he is so exiting to watch. What's your point.
Man, you better hope Big Belly Buncey, or is that Big Daddy Buncey(tee hee) doesnt come across your post JonOli, cos he seems to be the only guy left in the universe who thinks Haye has a chin. Poor Barry McGuigan, had to stand there biting his lip whilst Buncey went fanboy crazy over Hayes win against the fool Monte! Made for funny TV, but Bunce is fast turning into a total Setanta 'yes man' & that aint funny. Especially considering he pounded the SKY talking heads for the same behaviour he displayed... Poor show Bunce. There you go. Someone had to say it.
Or a new pair of Chums trousers Jonoli, I bet you are fast becoming uncomfortable with your new friend Dunky already! I dont mind, its alright
I just need to log out for a second, Dunky. Nah you're alright, I think we are from a similar age group, and therefore our views about boxers sometimes cross (agree). Not that we always agree mind or will do in the future!
He didn't really go down like a ton of bricks did he? This is one of the problems Dunky, you exaggerrate terribly. I've watched the replay, he slipped. A grazing shot landed but he clearly slipped. Also I think you've made a rod for your own back, with your ridiculous anti-English nonsense. I think your point about Hide was a decent one but that's tempered by the fact that even if Haye was the new Ali, you'd still be here picking fault, because he's English. It gets tiresome.
