Is it just possible that Louis would make today's giants look like oafs?

Could Joe Louis clean out the heavyweight division now? Is it beyond the realms of possibility that he could be too sharp, accurate and powerful for Fury and Klitschko or would they, Wilder and Joshua be too big/too good for him?

Might he struggle more with Povetkin or Haye?

I reckon you could plonk Louis in any era and he'd stand out. Or am I way off base?

I said in a recent thread that Joe Louis plonked as he was into the ring today, with his size and stature, would be competing at modern day Light Heavyweight, and would eventually be fighting at cruiser although he'd be a very small cruiser.

If he had all of the modern nutrition, training and PED's, then obviously that's a different story. Joe would then outhustle them all on the inside.

Louis was the exact same size as Evander Holyfield

    Of course it's possible.

The current HW champion was dropped heavily by a former CW champion.

Louis might lose rounds if he tries to jab with Fury. He might have to eat some jabs to get inside. He might have to fight harder than he has ever fought.

But once Louis closes that gap he will unload and when he does, Fury will fall.

    It is more than possible!

Fury is the guy to beat right now, so he would have to do better than Cunningham.

    After that, what?

Today's giants are increasingly looking like oafs!

Evander roided his way to heavyweight, and didn't have to do cut weight once at heavyweight either.

Fighters like Louis were giant killers and often more comfortable fighting bigger less coordinated men. The big heavyweights today would have a nightmare with Louis a lot of the skills he had are somewhat of a lost art today and a lot of people would be surprised how easy Louis and others would make it look against many top fighters today. Marciano had a 270 pound super heavy bag specially made for him and he'd bang that thing around like it was nothing.

For goodness sake, it’s not even like the “big oafs” are looking hard to beat, at the moment!

Mike Spinks had the same dimensions as a HW as Louis, and did make a giant opponent look like an oaf.

Guys like Dempsey, Louis and Ali had a pretty easy time with significantly taller opponents. Frazier expressly said he didn't like dealing with opponents near his own height, that he preferred bigger and taller targets.

todays real big boys need to see punches coming to avoid them..not so much of an issue when the other big boys draw back and show whats coming to them.
but joe louis inside detonating bombs from 6 to 8 inches without drawing back his arm...oh boy.

I just don't see a scenario where, say, Wladimir Klitschko gets caught with a hard left from Louis, and somehow manages to escape the danger.

Too big to run, too big to hide.

Tyson Fury looks like an oaf even when he is sitting down to breakfast.

Louis probably would drill most of the guys today. But it is also possible that he could get taken out as well, because there are so many huge guys that can punch, and it only takes one big one to put you on ***** street. But overall, I think he would do very very well.
