Yes I believe there was a moment in the 11th or 12th round when I thought Broner had Maidana ready to go, but he just didn't have enough left himself, and I believe Broner put more hurt on Maidana than Mayweather did. I'm not comparing the end results of either fight, I was never comparing that.

He did hurt Maidana, but he didn't have enough in the tank. Credit to Maidana for that.

I'm not speculating the impact of one fight on the other, I simply offered my opinion. I agree with the first part of what you said, I believe Maidana did gain confidence from beating Broner, because he even eluded to the skewd fact that they are similar in style, so he felt he could have success. But a big part of the reason of why he was able to stick to his plan was because Mayweather was way to comfortable to do just enough down the stretch and didn't really press Maidana. This is why I thought Broner did better down the stretch, because he knew he was downs he pressed Maidana hard and put more hurt on Maidana than Mayweather did. Once again I'm talking about success in spots.

That's all I'm saying. My only point is Broner, although he took a whoopin, had a moment in his fight against Maidana in which he looked like he could have stopped Maidana, and Mayweather didn't. It's a small measure of success because obviously winning the fight is what counts, but It's just something that crossed my mind, when I compared the 2 fights.

Difference is Floyd gets caught up mentally in defense. One or two shots that maidana was partially blocking or slipping wasn't enough to keep maidana from coming forward and trapping Floyd on the ropes.

    Broners defense is his offense.

By that logic then, Ortiz did better than Mayweather against Maidana. Hell, Ortiz must've performed better against Maidana than anyone else considering he was the closest to stopping him.

@6'4 south, don't bother debating with *****s. It's pointless and annoying. You know your boxing I can tell!

Yeah sorry I realise I didn't directly answer your original question. I see why you think Broner had more success in spots. I always felt that Mayweather can be manoeuvred to the ropes too often, sometimes he does this out of choice but others times he gets put there and opts to work off the ropes. Both guys did their best work in the centre of the ring. I would have to re-watch the Broner fight to see how well he held the centre but I do remember him doing good work there with his own hard shots.

Yes and no. Maidana-Ortiz was a while back, Maidana's a different fighter now than he was when he fought Ortiz. Mayweather-Broner vs Maidana was recent, so they both faced a different Maidana ( yet the same one), than the Ortiz faced.

Well after the bell if Mayweather had taken illegal free shots like Broner did maybe Mayweather would've stopped Maidana. :deal

I agree. I also thought Maidana was pretty hurt at the end of that fight with Broner. Certainly far more hurt than he ever was in the Floyd fight. People think of Broner as a flat footed poor imitation of Floyd, but he does have more power even still growing into the higher weight.
