Is it me or has the UFC(mma) really gone down hill?

You're ****ing kidding me? Please don't tell me old rich Franklin against 49 yr old been around forever wanderli silva? That's pathetic and sad. Who would be dumb enough to even pay for a card like that?

Would you pay for a camacho vs Whitaker fight....right now? Haha

It's popular to the extent that it has a lot of coverage. I do think the fervor has died down somewhat. I will say, that the UFC messed up and put their reality show on at like 10 pm on a Friday, which is a terrible idea, the ratings have suffered because of that.

Their huge draw has quit MMA (Lesnar) but they'll be able to bring someone up to take his place. And how will they do it? Because unlike a boxing (a lot of times) they do force competitive fights... usually.

If this is directed at me you have completely lost the plot. I do not enjoy watching either of the Klitschkos fight and have never said anything to suggest as much unless if stating that Vitali has an Iron Chin is considered nuthuggery.

Not at all. I am first and foremost a Boxing fan but I will readily admit that I enjoy MMA, as well. I wish Boxing was where the UFC is right now because hardcore fans of that sport are regularly treated to match-ups between the best fighters they have to offer (even if those guys get dropped by Jabs:lol::lol::lol::patsch), they are on TV all the ****ing time with shows of decent to great quality, and people are talking about it.

I get guys all the time that want to discuss obscure MMA fighters but when I start talking Boxing it is as if I am speaking Greek and then they start badgering me about why I follow a "corrupt sport". Boxing has become a niche sport and MMA is breaking out of that into the mainstream. It sucks but it is a Fact.

Alphabet organizations, promotional squabbles, ignorance and outright corruption from state appointed officials, and manufacted Hype Job fighters who have consistently failed to live up to potential for the last few years are dragging Boxing down and MMA will be the biggest game in town if **** isn't cleaned up fast. I'm not one of these idiots who is going to toot the "Boxing is dying" horn because it's been said from the dawn of the sport and hasn't happened but it will play second fiddle to MMA if they continue putting on more shows of higher quality on major networks.

I was a huge fan of the WEC, but then that got dissolved into UFC. Their fights are just getting a little stale is all. Not a whole bunch of sizzle in them.

Nah they are better suited for boxing IMO since they have weaker chins, and that won't help with the smaller gloves.

I'm also a fan of both. But much more of a boxing fan than MMA. MMA is getting a little old for me. I appreciate the artistry and technicality that boxing has, and MMA is lacking. But that's a personal preference.
Just because there haven't been as many exciting MMA matchups in 2011/2012, doesnt mean it's going downhill. It's just a slump. The overall trend is still leaning towards MMA. And boxing is losing credibility with more than a few lousy decisions this year.
When's the last time boxing was actually televised on a regular basis (without specialty channels)? The 90's? While UFC, Bellator and other promotions are getting more air time on basic cable packages every year.

Boxing is like the fighter we all want to win. And even though the scorecards show that MMA is winning by a large margin, there are some of us who still blindly defend the sport and want it to win, so much that we are in a state of denial.

To be fair to them, they had a shocking run of injuries. The original Brazilian card they tried to stage would have been one of the greatest MMA events ever. Silva vs Sonnen 2 in Brazil? ****ing awesome. But if a card is ravaged by injuries, **** happens in the fight game. They didn't design Wandy-Franklin as the main event. That was the 3rd choice main event, forced on them by circumstance.
