Those guys have an abundance of talent. For the less talented fighters they need to boil down.

Take Broner for example, it's easy enough knocking around midgets like Gavin Rees and Eloy Perez when he has a massive size advantage, put him in with guys his same size and look what happened in his last two fights.

they never bloat up, not dehydrated so they are in better shape and are able to take a punch better

If you have supreme talent, like the guys you mentioned above then cutting weight is overrated I agree.

At a level below the aforementioned guys, I think Froch is pretty much of that ilk.

you're right about Pacquiao and Mayweather, but Golovkin and Hopkins rehydrate over 10 pounds.

hopkins ate breakfast the morning of the weighin in his last fight and still came in at 2.5 pounds under the limit.

I don't doubt he did, but you don't think he gained anything after the weigh in? He was like 186 for Pascal.

All that means is that they have the skills to compensate for being naturally smaller, boxing is a skill sport. Putting on the weight is an advantage that lesser skilled fighters need.

when you are dehydrated, there is a lack of protective fluid around the brain that is impossible to replenish between the weigh-in and fight time.

this affects your ability to take a punch in the fight and has serious long-term effects on brain health.

Pacquiao and Marquez just recently started fighting at their walking around weight. For a good portion of their career's, they would cut a good deal of weight.

    That's a gaunt face.

And Mayweather's walking around weight is over 160.
