Is it not silly to want a fighter to lose because his fans are annoying/delusional?!

Yeah - that's a pretty stupid reason to want someone to lose.

No less rational than any other reason.

The only truely sane reason to cheer for a fighter is you bet on him, other than that its just varying degrees of crazy, I'm ok with that.

i think its silly and especially pointing out the hate for pacquiao. Pacquiao may have the most ridiculous and delusional fans that would make your blood boil but pacquiao as himself as a fighter, is a nice, humble down to earth guy, and respectful. Even if many people think he's just lucky he got the nod in his last fight its not his fault, he's not the one to decide things and its just his job as a fighter to fight.

That's not strictly true. They could be, for example:

    a. bad for the sport, in general
    b. cheating *******s
    c. duckers
    d. corrupting officials/sanctioning bodies to gain an advantage
    e. hypocritcal e.g. "everyone is ducking me, man!", whilst you are yourself only fighting bums and never fight the big boys

    etc.

Tough question - I suppose with individual sports it is tougher, whereas with team sports I often want Spurs and Newcastle to lose because their fans are deluded.

I wouldn't say the majority of Ricky Hatton's fans are delusional, though there is an element, as there is with Joe Calzaghe - constantly spitting out this 20 odd defences crap, when they ought to realise that a win in a non-title fight against Hopkins means more than all of the defences put together pretty much, with three or four exclusions.

Com on guys be reasonable. the poor fighter trains so hard, gets up 5 in the morning for his run, hits the gym after work and sacrafices beef burgers. and you want him to get KTFO jus because of some bum fans that the fighter didnt ask for:bart:think
