i was wondering would it be effective/realistic for a heavyweight to fight like a miguel cotto. he keeps a high guard, pretty much textbook defense, and throws combos in a unique arc/fashion, they are all very neat punches. the only other great heavyweight i could think of that fought similar to cotto is joe louis. he used the jab well, he knew when to use his speed over power. he threw very nice, neat combos. he had textbook style. and both have alot of power! im not sure cos maybe cotto is fighting at a lower weight division, maybe he wont be so free with his nice combos if he were a HW, it didnt bother joe louis much tho, so im not sure. how about his defense at HW? would he be able to block heavyweights punches the way he does with his high guard without going off-balance? i was wondering if cotto was 6'2ish and a heavyweight, would he be able to fight like he does, if so then why? if not then why?
you think joe louis? i think so too, only louis never held his left hand so high. cotto has a unique stance , he is semi crouched, and from this position he can do everything! do you guys think throwing combos the way he does wouldnt be affected cos of the chances of getting bigger bombs back?
what about frazier? I know the stance is different b/c of the philly shell, but the compact short hooks and aggressive style.
