Is it possible for boxers to go from "shot" to "not shot"?

When it comes to Miguel Cotto on ESB, that seems to be the case some Floyd fans.

Personally, I never thought Cotto was ever shot. This thread is about those who claim he was shot after Margarito I and Pac, and their potential attempts to take their opinions back now that it seems Floyd will be fighting him on May 5.

As far as physical damage, Cotto doesn't take it as well since the Margarito incident. That's just the facts. Ability? He's about the same as he was in 08'. It's his confidence that has been shaky at times since, and I'm not one of those who thinks he's been

    since the rematch with Antonio.

I think Cotto is the best of a bad situation and DEFINITELY deserves the opportunity. He's also the most accomplished champ @ JMW right now, so it is what it is.

All that to say, no, he's not shot.

Cotto has spent the last couple of months in the position of having the two biggest stars in the sport trying to outbid each other for a fight with him as whoever didn't get the Cotto fight was going to suffer a dip in PPV sales.

    Crazy position for Miguel

The problem is that people often get a bad performance or stylistic mismatch confused with being "shot", or alternately, confuse a favourable stylistic matchup with being "not shot".

We thought Hopkins was shot after Calzaghe. Now we know he wasn't (or is he?).
We thought Mosley was not shot after Margarito. Now we know he was (or is he?).

The question isn't whether a fighter is shot, it's whether his opponent matches up to what that fighter can still do well.

I'm prepared to give Mayweather full credit for being Cotto. Which he will do. Rather easily, considering "prime Cotto" barely escaped Mosley four years ago.

It's easy to find them using advanced Google search. Much faster than using the search engine on ESB.

Many *****s once saying Cotto is shot when talking about Pac made the search a breeze.

I was "floored" by the results!

    Yup.

He's overhyped and shot when Pac's fighting him, but better than ever when Floyd's fighting him.

There's always one last good fight for a shot fighter.
