Is it possible that Calzaghe is overhyped because BOTH Lacy and Kessler were?

Im not saying this is definitely so, just a possibility.

Calzaghe was considered nothing before he fought and whipped Lacy. Then hebeat Kessler and, seemingly, these two wins have boosted him from padded eurobum (or Britbum :p) to p4p top 5. A couple of high profile wins and an undefeated record can do that.

However, Lacy its turned out, is utterly ****. I dont think anyone who saw Lacy-Manfredo can doubt that.

Kessler, was to be the man to make Joe prove himself. He was himself undefeated and won a lot of fights by KO. But against who? Marcus Beyer? Siaca? Anthony Mundine? Hmmm. Wow.

Perhaps beating Mikkel Kessler is not the feat its cracked up to be.
Beating Lacy certainly wasnt. If that be the case, beware of Hopkins.

P.S. Calzaaghe nuthuggers (I know im posting at the time of night where Im bound to run into you), please dont take this as calzaghe bashing. I think that Calzaghe is possibly an ATG. Im looking forward to his next fights to see what finalises about his career.

Why continue to pick apart the career of professional boxers? In the end does it really even mean anything? Calzaghe has never lost a fight in his ridiculously long career, and hes only lost a hand full of ROUNDS on top of that. Don't crucify a man for fighting in a division that lacks superstar talent, all Calzaghe is doing is milking the 168lb division for as long as he wants. And then hes going to retire with a smile on his face. And thats how the story of Joe Calzaghe will go.

    Calzaghe has outclassed all.

It would be a huge conincidence if somehow everyone he fought was rubbish.

The is a 0.0376% chance Joe Calzaghe isn't the best boxer of all time.

Overhyped? WTF? The guy's been around for a decade and has only been noticed in the last couple of years.

Unifying is a division is quite an admirable feat. He might be hyped up, but we are not going to know if he does not get beaten, which seems unlikely to happen. As far as I can tell, he is clearly the best in the 160-175 divisions.

Lacy is **** now and may never become good again, but he was steamrolling good fighters before he fought Calzaghe. Calzaghe ruined Lacy, he was not **** all along. Also Kessler was a proven A grade fighter, he hammered Mundine and Beyer, showing great power and skills in doing so, and I have no doubt he will have a great career ahead of him that will prove how good a win he was for Calzaghe.

It is possible, but I don't think that Kessler was overrated. Lacy was overrated (because of his exposure in the US and his muscular Tysonisque physique but to dominate him the way JC did was a great feat.

Was Lacy overrated or has Joe destroyed him as a fighter?Calzaghe is in a catch 22 whoever he faces some people will say they were ,old, overrated,to small or just bums in the first place. He can't win in some peoples eyes and if someone does beat him, they will say hes been exposed as a bum.

Pemberton and Reid were both Manfredo level when Lacy fought them and Lacy absolutely dominated both of them, i think its fairly obvious Lacy isnt the fighter he was pre-Calzaghe, i do think he was over-hyped slightly though. Nevetheless, Lacy was a top 3 SMW at the time along with Kessler and Calzaghe. Watch Kessler fight, does he honestly look overrated? Dawson is the only other man between 160-175 that would beat Kessler IMO.

when a fighter outclasses every opponent that hes faced your always going to get the "overrated ****"....It's annoying to tell you the truth. Calzaghe dominates all. He doesn't just win, he wins every round every fight is a clinic.

It makes none. But if Joe's entry into the United States doesnt bring him results, watch the excuses fly.
