That he needs a soft touch? We know he has struggled with his hands and arms so does he legitimately feel he cannot physically push himself hard enough to be 100% confident in this camp in a fight against a live dog like Thurman or even Khan? There's also the fact that he was absolutely vilified (unfairly) for his performance against Pac, so he knows if he goes against a rangey fighter with a good jab he will have to get on his bike at times especially if he's not feeling 100% healthy so doesn't want another slating. I'm sure his 2 main reasons for fighting this September are to get out of the showtime deal ASAP and he know waiting around for a year nearing 40 is not a good idea. Is this Floyd fulfilling a wish in fighting Berto and just picking the fight "he wanted" or is it a case of having to because his physical is not responding like it used to? (For the record, I still will not 100% believe its Berto until it's official, but a few sources who have never let me down seem to think it's a done deal)
He's picking the fight he wanted. The sad thing is that Khan is a minimal threat in my eyes to Floyd, but he at least would be interesting. Berto brings nothing to the table at all. Hoping against hope that this is not the matchup despite the sources so far.
If he wants a soft touch For #49, why not fight a former big name? A fight with Margarito or de la Hoya would be more meaningful than Berto.
If this is all a trick to make the real opponent a lot more credible then everyone has fallen for it hook, line and sinker. I see people screaming for Khan at this stage who wanted nothing to do with that fight a month ago. But if the CBS rumours are true then unfortunately I believe it's going to be someone on Berto's level.
