Is it possible that Johnson is sometimes just an unlucky fighter, or has he been a victim of many injustices in the sport? I have always been a fan of Johnson, and on many occasions I have watched him lose a close fight that I strongly felt he won. Usually, there would be a lot of close rounds, but I tend to favor his aggresive style. In the past, I have thought that Glen was indeed "robbed" many times, but now looking back and further examining the nature of his losses, I'm not so sure I was right. More and more, I hate when the word "robbery" comes up after any close fight....and some people do cry robbery after EVERY close fight. and yes, I too am guilty of using that word inapropriately in the past. As for the case of Glen Johnson, I now believe it is more likely that of his 14 loses he was robbed 3 or 4 times at most (Ottke for sure), and came up short 10 or 11 times in closely contested fights (with the exception of the Hopkins fight).
IDK but I saw his fight with Judah, and that was a very blatant robbery, some of these judges just look at records and decide from there how the fight is gonna be scored.
I think they just looked at their records and gave Judah a gift draw because he was unbeaten at the time, it was disgusting none the less though.
I thought he beat Cloud by a point or at least got a draw. I thought he lost to Dawson the first time by a point and was soundly beaten by Dawson in the rematch. I also thought he deserved to win the 3rd Clinton Woods fight. I haven't seen all the others but i wouldn't be surprised to see a few unfortunate decisions in there.
It becomes easy to rationalize dishonesty sometimes. We so badly want to believe that the system is fair. Because if people get ripped off or cheated, it means the world is corrupt. And not everyone can face up to the fact that the world is a ****ed up place.
He's been robbed in at least y fights over the course of his career, as well as had another 6 that could have gone his way
The Judah fight was probably the worst decision to go against him. Most of the time, he's just been in close, subjective fights that give the judges enough room to score them for the house fighter. I thought he won all three fights with Woods and beat Ottke for instance but I wouldn't go so far as to call them robberies. If he was a popular fighter who was viewed as the "name" in all his fights, his record would look a lot different.
Cloud won clearly and Woods clearly beat him in the third fight. It was the first Woods fight that was robbery. He was a victim of roberry a few times, especially the Judah fight but generally he was just unlucky being involved in close fights that could have gone either way but usually didnt go his way.
He beat Dawson in the first fight. Dawson got a gift, but that hypejob got exposed anyway by Jean Pascal.
I had him winning against: 1. Judah 2. Dawson the first time 3. Clinton Woods the first time. On the other hand both the Cloud and the first Tarver fights could have gone either way. I would say he was robbed at least 2 or 3 times.
