Is it possible to get KTFO while wearing headgear against 16oz gloves?

Saw an amateur boxing event over the weekend with 8 fights all were huge mismatches but not a single guy got Ko'd.
Is it rare when it happens or more common than what I saw?

I don't know why they'd be wearing 16oz gloves, amateur fights are usually 8 or 10oz gloves. There are stoppages all the time, but remember it's only three rounds.

A friend sent me this of a Mexican amateur fight, using barred headgear and 16oz gloves. This might have been a smoker cos I have never seen an amateur fight with that type of headgear and 16oz gloves.

its a sparring-match, for a novice boxers to prepare for a real thing.. i had 3 of them last month, preparing for a first match in feb. only difference is that we had no winner (unless someone is koed :))..

btw yes, it is possible to get koed with headgear and 16oz, even when there is no mismatch (livershots etc..)

It has to be possible. The first knock down I ever saw in person was a girl getting dropped in sparring ( by another girl). It looked a bit like the second time Ali went down in the first Fraizer fight, except it came from a solid right hand to the chin. Peolple immediately went to help her get up, and she wasn't terribly buzzed, but I'm not sure if she would have gotten up quickly (mainly due to fatigue, and she wasn't very athletic).

I'm thinking the perfect shot could still knock someone out with 16oz gloves. I've also seen a few people call for a break or take knee if they're buzzed in sparring.

Sure it's possible, it's just really hard. In the amatuers it's easy to get the TKO with a swarming style but hard to get clean knockouts unless you have perfect shots, lucky shots, or very real power. In my competitions under welterweight we used 10 oz and over welterweight or so we used 12 oz, but that was years ago. Smokers are different, pretty much whatever the gym feels like.

In sparring with head gear I have had success punishing guys bodies with the 16 oz gloves until they want to stop or take a knee, but no luck at all with head shots in really hurting someone.

I've seen plenty of guys get sparked with the headgear and 12 oz gloves, though.

I've saw someone in my gym get downed by a 16 oz gloves, but not KTFO. That only happened because the guy walked into a perfect hard shot.

16oz makes it hard but i got hurt by 16oz gloves the other day. the lad cn puch and i diodnt see it coming. was dazed and confused after. didnt go down and i survived the round.

i have hurt people with 16oz glovesd to the head. never cleanly dropped anyone but had them wobbling all over the ring.

dropped loads wth body shots in 16oz gloves tho

Sounds like you watched an exhibition card. They can be mismatches but they don't go full tilt.
