    1) It's Davey Moore
    2) Duran was a 5-2 under dog going into that fight. Moore was rated highly at the time, and was the champion.
    3) I rate Moore highly too, because of the demolition job that he did on Charlie Weir if nothing else
    4) Duran never went "life or death" with Moore. The early rounds seemed competitive, because Moore had skills and fast hands and landed his fair share. But the real story was told in the faces of the fighters. Moore's face became deformed with the force of Duran's blows, whereas Duran seemed unfazed. At around the end of the third round Duran realised that despite Moore's reputation as a big puncher, he had nothing for him. He was laughing at him. He pretty much walked through the incoming, GGG style, to land his own, and massacred Moore from round 4 onwards. Frankly Davey had too much heart for his own good, that fight probably ruined his career.

    If you want to you can pick holes in every ATG's record. Even SRR has his haters that try to pick holes in his record to put his accomplishments down.

    Kevin's bumping old threads trying to look for validation he's right about Duran.
    That ain't "kool", Kev. It's desperate.

    It's all good. Different opinions are what make boxing forums tick.

    I am a Duran fan, but I tend to think of it this way:

    Knocking out Pipino Cuevas and then Davey Moore was impressive, but didn't fully make up for No Mas, Benitez, and Lang.

    Beating Iran Barkley (barely, could have gone either way imo), was impressive, but didn't fully make up for getting slaughtered by Hearns.

    Late career battles with Vinny Pazienza and Hector Camacho were impressive, but don't fully make up for losing to Pat Lawlor(!).

    I love Duran but after Montreal I feel the valleys were deeper than the peaks were high.

    You couldn't have said it at all though could you, Kev? Your just fishing for opinions from knowledgeable posters that suit your agenda. Hence the saying YDKSAB!!!!!

    I think a case can be made that he may be overated at Lightweight,his achievements at the higher weights ensure him a place in the pantheon of alltime great P4P fighters.

    I have never understood completely the Duran mystique. A Top 30 fighter, sure. Obviously an all-time great.

    But there's no way in the world I'd put him above Pep, for example.

    Yes, the 2nd De Jesus fight is a perfect example of this. Barkley is another example, had he not knocked him down with that combination near the end of the fight he would have likely lost that fight as well.

    You should actually watch Duran's fights you silly noob. I admire your enthusiasm Kev but my **** your a total noob. Never post in the classic unless your sure you know what your talking about. Duran is a dead cert top ten great. Money would be struggling to reach top 30. It's still a great accomplishment for Floyd so don't fret that much. Everybody agrees he's a talented ATG but there's no doubt been better. He sits top 40 imo. The sport is historically rich with great fighters so there's no shame in that.

    I don't doodle pictures of Duran. I watch his fights and marvel at his complete skillset. please don't tell me you think Floyd has a better skillset lol. Start a thread on that subject and see how much the historians shoot you down.

    Finally is right, because now you know that this is what took place.

    =======================================

    Upon closer inspection of the famed low blow, referee Johnny LoBianco can be seen standing behind Durán as the bell rang and immediately grabbed Durán in a bear hug-like style to pull Durán away from Buchanan. LoBianco can clearly be seen in the video altering the direction of Duran's right arm, pulling it downward as Durán attempted to throw a clean body punch at Buchanan;

    Which differs from LoBianco's viewpoint which is as follows:

    LoBianco said Duran won with a legal punch. ''The punch that put Buchanan down was in the abdomen, not any lower,'' LoBianco told reporters. ''It was impossible for him to continue. But it wasn't that punch alone. It was a culmination.''

    And if you're looking for illegal activities look no further than this.

    Cortez motioned the fighters back together to resume the fight, without putting them in a neutral corner. Both fighters touched gloves, and Ortiz gave Mayweather another hug. At that moment, Cortez was not looking at the fighters. As Ortiz let go, Mayweather took advantage of Ortiz not having his hands up and unloaded a left hook which wobbled Ortiz. Ortiz then looked at the referee, and Mayweather connected with a flush right hand to Ortiz's face. Ortiz fell to the canvas, and was unable to beat Cortez's count as the crowd of 14,687 jeered Mayweather. After the fight Ortiz claimed that he was merely obeying the referee's instructions when he was "blindsided" by Mayweather, who defended his actions by saying that "In the ring, you have to protect yourself at all times
