Nah. He'll fight in the new MGM arena next year. But if it isn't going to be against Golovkin, Cotto, or a Pacquiao rematch then he should just retire.
Of course it isn't, he'll keep coming back until he loses imo, he also has atrocious habits, it's a story told over and over in this sport, can't see Mayweather adjusting to curbing his habits, which will give way to harsher ones once he realizes he can't do it anymore between the ropes, don't matter how much he has in the bank.
What "atrocious habits" are you referring to? Mayweather does not smoke, drink or do drugs. And the whole "Money Mayweather" routine is just to get people to hate him, which has of course made him a TON OF CASH. Mayweather is smart enough to come up with a plan to MAKE HIS MONEY. Along with his adviser, Al Haymon, he's smart enough to KEEP HIS MONEY. Mayweather is set for life. The ONLY fight he'd come back for would be the Pacquio rematch. Another 9 figure payday.
:yep Mayweather isn't retiring on 49-0!! Not when another eight-nine figures are up for grabs for a Manny rematch.. and the opportunity to surpass Rocky's record. The "This is my last fight, I can't do it anymore" bollox is just another cynical marketing ploy..so that mugs buy the Berto fight (thinking it's the last time they'll get to see Floyd in action). As much as I admire Floyd for his skills, I just wish he would fcuk off now!! His fight with Berto is a joke and quite frankly it is cr ap like this which is preventing great match-ups from being regularly made (the likes of Haymon, Hearn and other promoters are thinking "Hey, if these idiots are willing to buy this kind of tripe on a regular basis, why risk our big money earners in serious fights?"). If less than a thousand attended the Floyd fight and less than ten thousand bought the ppv, you'd better believe that the promoters would get the message loud and clear!! Unfortunately, the Americans (as friendly as they are) have a large population of gullible fools.. and they will fill the arena and ensure over one million PPV buys.
Well his contract is up,he's 38 years old and he's beats the one guy everyone said he had to fight, so retirement would make sense.
:good I think it was obvious BEFORE then (I have often stated that they would fight twice)!! Hence the "shoulder injury" bs following Manny's substandard performance (they could not sell a rematch without such a claim).
Not a chance. Nobody is beating him anytime soon, he can still make crazy money, 50-0 is right there to be taken and he likes the attention and the money too much. Even if he were to retire he'll just come back a year later when the networks throw enough money at him.
No chance. This just gets him out of his Showtime contract. They will build it up like it is his last fight with all the Rocky Marciano nonsense, Floyd will make some somber speeches about retirement and such, and once it is over and he is a free agent he will be on the phone to Manny trying to arrange another "Fight of the Century" Floyd is such a shyster
