The Super 6 is a good tournament but dont be fooled into thinking that all the fighters a greats ie Abraham is a small former MW champ with no big wins and no real SMW resume. Dirrells only noted win is Abraham by DQ Green hasnt beaten anyone of note and had lost to Miranda Kessler is a world class SMW but was an already beaten and exposed fighter, Froch is limited but in fairness does hold a win over Pascal and Taylor Ward wont have faced a single undefeated fighter in the tournament and will be given his first 3 fights at home Bute not being in can still feature in some interesting bouts, against fighters like Steiglitz (WBO champ) who has a better resume than Dirrell, AA SMW, Green and has an argument against Frochs resume, or another unification of sorts against Sartison, or could look for fights against bigger name fighters (which makes people believe they are better fighters) like possibly Hopkins or Pavlik. Bute could even take the challenge of the undefeated contenders like Mendy whos resume at SMW could be argued with the likes of Dirrell, Green, AA SMW. Its a shame Butes not in the Super 6 but is it really that bad, Bute not being in the Super 6?
No, it's better for him he is not. This tournament is not as great as some think. It will definitely be effective in shortening careers. Dirrell wouldn't have a loss cause he would have never had to go to England to fight someone like Froch. Really, none of the fights should be in England or Germany. Taylor wasn't even allowed to body punch in Germany. I's a joke really. Dirrell and Ward are excellent fighters, but I am no so sold on this tournament being a good thing for them. Froch v Kessler was a good fight, but all-in-all, the fights haven't been that spectacular. The tournament is too long as well. Single elimination should be it. Bute is better off being on HBO.
Yep! Definitely bad for his career and image. He's on the outside looking in at what is being seen as a tournament between the BEST. That he isn't there implies that he is not one of the best. Following the tournament, all 6 fighters will have gained much more valuable experience compared to what Bute is gaining. I predict over time, Bute will be the least successful of the Super Six participates, excluding of course Froch, who I believe will be KO'ed at least twice before the end of the matches.
Bute is like Erdei and Calzaghe in the early 2000s feasting on a bunch of no-hopers and milking his paper title for all its worth.
No hopers like who, because Joe was underdog when first bidding for his title and Erdei beat a top rated LHW fighter coming off his best win. And both had made some good defences (even if not all) of their first 5 defences
