    We're talking about a person that gained 3lbs per month since his title-winning effort. If he had chosen to lose 3lbs a month I would feel more sympathy for him.

    What? JOHN Ruiz cheated in just about EVERY fight he had against decent opposition by violating the rules against excessive holding!! He also overacted to get bogus low blow calls for borderline shots in several fights, and got gift decisions in others. John Ruiz wasn't just any old cheater, either, he was the poster boy for boxing corruption in the time he was holding the WBA title hostage due to his connections to King!
