Is it safe to say that Parker's resume is better than Joshua's resume?

Martin was terrible, he got some hype behind him because he's American and Americans will always rally behind their HW champs so he was overrated before the fight, you had people actually believing he'll give Joshua problems. He also talked a lot and the build up before his fight with Joshua was decent but let's face it, he was basically a "can" at this level. He only "won" his title because Glazkov (a cruiserweight-sized HW who shouldn't have been fighting for that title in the first place anyway) blew his knee in a fight where Glazkov was a huge favorite going in. It was one of the most weird title fights in HW history, especially considering the story behind it.

Breazeale is also terrible but at least he's durable while Martin didn't want to be there after he was hit with first Joshua jab. Whyte and Molina are Joshua's best wins so far IMO.

I agree. Whyte would have an easy time with Parker. And Whyte is no world beater. Parker was soundly beat by Ruiz. Parker needs to get back to the drawing board. I know he is young but he should keep well clear of top level fighters - at least till he improves.

    Soundly beaten? Pfft.

Draw at worst. Look back on the fight and score it. I did sober post fight, got 115-113. Ruiz didn't do enough, and Parker fought smart most of the time landing the more blows, and cleaner blows. A fight isn't won by coming forward and missing.

I just can't see what Ruiz did to deserve the decision. Yeah he was busy enough in the early rounds, but by the middle of the fight his work rate had fallen dramatically and he was walking forward but throwing little. All Parker needed to do to win was keep his jab busy and stay out of harm's way - and that's exactly what he did. Hardly exciting, but effective.

As for comparing AJ's and Parker's resume: it's an interesting aside but the bottom line is, Joshua is ahead of Parker in his development curve and would be a heavy favourite as of now.

I would be more confident of Parker going against AJ than I would Parker vs Povetkin. I just don't think Parker likes shorter pressure fighters.

Parker barely beating Takam and Ruiz, not knocking them out, shows his level right now. It's debatable if those are better wins as well, they are just more durable. AJ beats them too and resume isn't everything. Parker needs to feast on that level for a while to get his experience up. No shame in that, only casuals get upset at fighters needing experience. He needs to be be able to bang without being open, and bang out a determined fighter without worrying about stamina. 12 rounds is a lot of time to put in work. I want to see the best he can be.

I'd like to see Parker take on Whyte, who to date has given AJ his toughest test. It would be a good reference point and I fancy Parker would handle him...

It might be safe to say that but it is unrealistic to say that Parker would win a fight with Joshua.

You're right. Whyte is the type of opponent he should take on for the next few fights. He doesn't look ready for top dogs yet. He'd get chewed up by guys like Joshua, Povetkin, Ortiz.

Aj is the best HW since Lennox Lewis and will probably go on to be better than him.

AJ would knock him out in 2 rounds.

Povetkin-Parker could be competitive. Joshua-Parker is just a mismatch.

Joshua would not need 12 rounds to beat Ruiz. I think we can safely say that.

But I would still take Povetkin to beat Joshua. Stiverne is a level above any of Joshua's victims, so if he dispatches him like he did Perez (also a level above anybody Joshua has faced) it says a lot.

Stick that fight on the under card of AJ vs Wlad

The answer is clearly yes; but, as an insightful poster above said, resume isn't everything.

I'm a big Parker fan but he's not ready for Joshua yet.

As has been said a few times and I'll +1, Parker has the better resume than Joshua BUT after this weekends performances I feel the eye-test now means more than resume. Parker is NOT ready for Joshua. I feel Joshua has now more or less moved into a league of his own.
