Is it safe to say Wladimir got the worst chin of the top 10 heavyweights?

I have him as a top 10 HW of all times. I think he got the shakiest whiskers out of the top 10.

I think maybe only Patterson is as fragile when it comes to great hw champions.

He ain't in my top 10 anyways, maybe top 15, but that's debatable to. He's definitely in the top twenty though, and yeah out out of all the atg heavy's id consider only Patterson to be more fragile. But I think that it was as much as him being a natural light-heavyweight, as having very shaky whiskers.

Not everybody will have him in their top 10, but it can't be put off much longer if he continues his present form. In this case he probably would have the worst chin of his top 10 peers. Perhaps it should come as no shock that the top 10 heavyweight with the worst chin, would be the one with the most physical tools to compensate for it.

It's complicated with Wlad....his chin is very good. He's never been knocked out cold or rattled to the point where his legs betray him (David Reid against Trinidad, etc.). The problem is that Wlad has shown Andrew Golota Syndrome where if something doesn't go his way, he implodes. Against Brewster and Purity, he gassed out and ended up defenseless. Against Sanders, he panicked and abandoned all strategy leading to the stoppage. He wasn't out cold....He just kept getting floored by really hard shots that he had no idea how to defend against. Peter scored brute force knockdowns on him, but he never really was hurt.

I don't have him in my top 10 anyway but I think it's a combination of things with Vlad - if he fights anywhere outside Germany - ie has to fight properly in a real fight ie doesn't have a referee who is his best friend then he is in trouble for various reasons - chiefly he doesn't really know how to fight without constantly holding and smothering - he's not used to getting hit- and he doesn't like getting hit - I think he's one of those guys a bit like Bruno used to be who didn't really have a fighters mentality and kind of froze when he got hit - it's more like because he hasn't had his chin battle tested enough (because refs don't generally allow people to fight him properly in Germany) he is afraid its going to let him down - but then again the guys who it did let him down against weren't exactly soft hitters either so I don't know it's a bit harsh to single him out - I prefer to look at him as a complete package and hi career as a body of work as its a little fairer to him

This. His chin and durability are actually fairly good. His nerves and mental toughness to taking punches is rather terrible for a HW.

Theres a big difference between clinching and Wlads fouling i.e ... headlocks . fore-arming them to the canvas , bear hugging etc...
And Louis didn't have that bad of a chin.

Depends. Chins are best tested when they are hit. Jack Johnson is in many top tens, yet he was KO'd by a man under 170 pounds, and floored by a middle weight in a title match.

Wlad faced some big time punchers, but he was never counted out. Brewster, or Sanders if they catch you could have taken out most champions.

Lewis was Ko'd Twice by one punch.

Not sure where Wlad would rate, but I would say at the tail end of the list in terms of durability of greats.

    This is true

But we also know the standard of refereeing in Vlads fights is beyond ridiculous and the fights he's had when not in Germany have been ALOT different to those IN Germany - if you can't see that then I don't know why planet you're on? Everytime I watch Vlads fight there's either a pub full of people beating their heads in their hands in frustration at the referees allowing him to get away with murder - or if I'm at home then at least 5 or 6 of my mates doing the same - are you the only person on the planet not seeing this??
