Stevens landed some clear punches but GGG didn't get hurt and didn't even blinked. GGG indeed wanted street fight tonight.
GGG's chin is ok but his skin concerns me. His thin white skin swells to easy. GGG is just to damn easy to hit.
Granite chin and great hand speed with power is what gave him the victory. Kudos to Stevens but he was clearly over-matched.
Stevens has no power. He is great at knocking out bums. But he doesnt have power at the World class level, because GGG was saying that he couldnt even feel Stevens punches.
First round KO's of contenders Edwin Ayala and Saul Roman tend to suggest that he has some power. I believe both were at or near top ten at one time. But then, neither rank with GGG.
looked to me that ggg felt some of those body shots and head shots...problem was stevens sucks. guy just doesn't throw punches. he's like clottey. just stands there and lets the other guy jab him and punch him and does nothing in return...he's one of those guys that has to be set to punch, so any fighter with movement will probably be able to beat him. that said, he landed some solid shots that appeared to slow down ggg. but stevens is just a level above a club fighter. it's gonna be whole different story when ggg goes up against guys like chavez jr and martinez and lara and canelo.
Golovkin laughed when Kellerman asked him about Stevens power. You could see from the 6 round on GGG just didnt give a damn, he knew that he couldnt be hurt and hunted down Stevens until the stoppage.
it's hard to tell, i didn't really see any solid hits by stevens. from my understanding though, on golovkin, is that he hasn't been floored yet.
Golovkin is in really good shape for every fight, he takes no one lightly!!! Golovkin has great timing, knows his distance!!!
Looked to me that the answer to the questions are no and yes.Stevens was a lot better than I thought and Golovkin proved he is a complete boxer, took some good shots. The very fact that they landed will probably encourage other boxers, particularly at the weight above.Eddie Hearn said on Ringside that he believes GGG not too keen on a fight with Carl Froch, though how he knows this I don't know.It would be a good one.Unless Quillin wants a unification I reckon G will have to move up.Cant see much competition at the moment.
