Is it the end for Winky Wright

I know one thing for sure -- I do not want to see Winky ****ing Wright on friday Night fights. That would be a sad and disgraceful end to a great career.

 

To be fair that's pretty much where he's going to wind up unless he changes his tune about himself.

He turned down a fight with Abraham, He took two years off demanding higher pay dates than what was due...I mean HE hurt himself more than anyone else did.

 

Maybe I'm still a little raw from seeing Chop Chop get jobbed the other night. I just don't like seeing old favorites getting jobbed, screwed, or worse yet, get their asses handed to them by some young gun slinger few people even know about. I'd hate to see Winky come to a bad end.

 

dunno. paul williams was a massive guy dwarfing winky...who isnt that small a guy. to me winky seemed to think that he could walk williams down. his jab was going and he was landing. but williams was all over him. if paul had fought him a few years before paul would of given him trouble...win i dont know but still winky looked rusty as hell.


he could get his shots off and he knew what he was doing. the first sign of shot fighter is if they dont know what they are doing and arnt showing effort. he showed alot of it.

 

No. This was a difficult comeback fight. Williams is intensely active with big physical advantages.

 

who really wanted to see Twinky prior to the Williams fight? and in view of whats happened give me one reason I should want to see one of the most boring performers box now with eroding skills and on the down side of a boring career.

 

That was disgusting. Chop won by a point at the very least.

I think I had Corley by 4 points. Ya gotta remember there was a 10-8 round in their. That stick with hair went right down on his face.

 

He didn't look the same to me.

Maybe it was Williams but Winky's offense stunk. His jab was short too often, he got outworked and outhustled. I really think he was loading up because he got buzzed a couple times and when he couldn't connect with anything meaningful he just went silent offensively. He couldn't time a right hand beyond the rare glancing shot.

At times he looked like he was tentative and that's a bad sign. Like I said, it might have been Williams but it just as easily could have been father time.

 

I thought he looked allright. he isn't done yet if he wants to give it another go more power to him.

 

It's always bad when a fighter gets robbed young or old.

My hope with Winky is that the loss will allow him to reevalute where he really stands in the boxing world. If he does that he can get more big fights, otherwise he'll sit out and crow about being ducked.

If you watched the post fight interview you'd know he said it's not the end,
In the big picture it is tough.

but he does need to get his act together for sure

years of being left out of the big money fights have made him a greedy little bugger, but rightly so, hes had a long hard road to where he is now

 

Looking at the Ring's top 10 fighters, it's hard to envision Winky not fighting his way back up the ladder to get a crack at either Pavlik or Abraham. As long as he keeps active I think he could have a decent end to his career.
