is it time for bellew to go up a weight and fight cruiserweight

All the guys Green has fought have been lightheavies anyway, with the exception of Flores.

Don't know what the **** happened to him, when Haye left the division it looked like it was his for the taking. Maybe too much time with Brian Kenny on ESPN?

I'm not sure 10lbs is that much of a difference up at CW, I'd rather have a Bellew lean at 190lbs than tubby at 200lbs.....

Look at Hatton trying to make himself as big on the night as Collazo coming in at 160, when his optimum in-ring weight is 152. Was slower, easier to hit and so on.

 

id heard such good things, he spoke well too, saw some highlights of him lookin decent, but was TREMENDOUSLY underwhelmed with him v green

 

He's been pretty much part time for nearly four years now..... and has carved out a decent career for himself in the studio.

Roy Jones advantage, and the advantage of a smaller fighter at Heavyweight is speed.

Bellews style would have to change as he would be going from the bigger man at 175 to the smaller man at 200lbs as when he is at his best (late in the McEnzie fight, the russian) he uses his size and stretgh to bulldozz and "bomb" through his opponent.

 

heard an interview that he is stepping in with a new promoter. he was with square ring (roy jones company) but they just didnt put on any fights and told him if he fougth elsewhere in the us he would get a law suit. thats what he went to aus.

also he was lined up for a ibf eliminator in germany for $25k but turned it down to make $250k agaisnt green.

 

Let's be realistic though. If Tony is to get better then he needs to learn more than to just bulldoze through weaker fighters. That gameplan will always come undone against anyone technically savvy enough.

If he can move up to cruiser, work on his speed and explosiveness he could be a force. He's never gonna be a force at light heavy with stick-like legs and a starved beard.

If he does move up he shouldnt go straight into title fights.

Everyone slagged Haye off for taking 8 months of after Enzo but there was a reason for it. his body has been damaged from stripping muscle of to get down to 200lbs and he needed a long period of recovery.

Bellew needs to go away, bulk up to 205-210 and then strip down to 190.

 

Think that was partly due to the birth of his son as well.
