34 yo, he cant win tonights fight.... Clearly he's not going to improve his legacy. I don't know his bank account, but if he has some money he should probably retire and save some extra neurons to have a better life after boxing.

What's sad about todays boxing is after losing this fight Taylor's options for his next fight have grown. Every fighter at his weight will want his name on their resume, it doesn't matter that he's diminished. I hope he can take an objective look at where he is, and either retire or have a low level opponent or 2 before cashing out.

I think yeah it's normal it's the good choice.. you can't not be undisputed and then after in your career just take a lose against a boxer who don't even have the European Level..

As @Flo_Raiden mentioned - for Josh Taylor, maybe try and fight Ryan Garcia for a payday. Or retire.

I expected Taylor to beat Essuman - he was undisputed and did beat some good fighters. Just went totally downhill after leaving McGuigan.

I dont know why he took this fight. It is clear to everyone he is shot to smithereens, and apparently he is out on the **** every week. Which is really not great when you approaching you mid 30s a professional boxer.

Stylistically the fight made sense, Taylor has always done his best when he has someone who stands right in front of him and allows him to work in the mid and close range. But yeah it was always a huge risk given he's always relied on being the bigger man and there was not guarantee moving up in weight would rejuvenate him and that he'd be able to physically dominate his opponent up close like he did at 140.

He looked good in spurts and probably was doing well in the gym and likely felt better at 147 without the big weight cut. But as you say going out and binge drinking regularly isn't conducive to a long and successful career. Getting punched in the head and then the brain damage that comes with heavy drinking, is a terrible combination. People lie to themselves all the time, rather avoid the truth than face the reality of what they are doing to themselves. Probably why he also thought he won the fight when it was pretty clear his was losing the fight in the later stages.

You just had me remember that time during the weigh in between Josh Taylor and Teofimo Lopez when Taylor was taunting Lopez by saying “You’re done! You’re finished!” That was at a time when almost everyone thought Lopez was no longer the same and then Lopez ended up beating Taylor. Who would have guessed that it was Taylor that was finished as a top fighter while Lopez is still on top?

Remember when Taylor fans were saying he was gonna run Crawford out of the division? Not on his best day or his wildest dream, would Taylor have beaten Bud. LOL
