Doesn't make much difference when even if in sold out venues / Premier League stadiums you have still done your conkers several times over.
Yep, even with the Sky platform, it’s just as easy (if not easier) to get freebies to Boxxer shows. Wasn’t it originally an edict from Sky when they went exclusive with Matchroom in 2011/12 (whenever it was) that they couldn’t use ‘small halls’ or anything like that and they all had to be the full works in fancy arenas? Definitely a Hearn ego thing these days though. Can’t be making any money from the bottom tiers at the O2 when hardly anyone has paid to be there.
Short answer: of course it is. A full 3-4k capacity arena is much better for all parties than a half full Manchester / O2 / Echo Arena. Long answer: there's no way they will do this. Everything Matchroom do needs to be seen through the lens of Hearn's desire to float the company. Shows in small halls don't sound as sexy as the big city venues and won't attract investors. Not being seen to diminish their "brand" is key here.
Awesome, thanks for the excellent business insight. Just going to email my CEO now on my lunch break 'look, I know we're a long established global organisation making millions, but you've got it all wrong. please shut down all activities in the marketing department now - advertisment doesn't work apparently. Thanks again, with all the savings we will make from this suggestion I reckon I might get employee of the month. To think we have been spending time and money on raising our product awareness to our target consumer base - absolute madness!
Only 2 votes for No, and 1 of the 2 is DramaShow (who's basically a voluntary Matchroom employee) what a surprise
Matchroom should do more shows in Ireland and sign more fighters from there. They can sell out that arena, and it's a cracking atmosphere. But England yeah they need to take it back to 2,000-4,000 venues.
