I love the old git, I really do and have for many years but after the interview with Chad Dawson at the weekend he said "Thankyou Andre", I laughed my head off at the time but is it time for Larry to retire?
"Thank you, Andre" isn't any worse than Nick Cannon's calling Chad Dawson "the lightweight heavyweight champion of the world" so no, give him another year.
You only need to look at that potshot at Haye to realise that there's comedy gold lurking behind every door, the older and less of a **** he gives about anything.
lawlz, i caught that too.... (facepalm moment) was surprised Dawson didnt stop and recorrect him before he left
Max Kellerman also got DeMarco and Molina's names mixed-up as well, during the fight. There's just too much activity in boxing PPV events, and some announcers will make mistakes, just like referees do, when they get caught in the moment. Larry Merchant is good for boxing, cause he "drills" fighters when he interviews them and many times gets the truth out of them.
**** that! As long as Merchant has a heart beat, working eyes, and vocal chords, they should keep him running! :smoke
I still think he says funny/******ed ****. I'd say he stays for a bit longer as long as he doesnt get too racist.
Lampley says something about Haye taking his shoe off after the Volo fight to show the swollen toe as why he fought the way he fought. Merchant, with not even an ounce of a **** given: "He should've taken off his boxing trunks to show everybody why he really fought that way." atsch Pissy old coot holds grudges when he's not entertained.
He's always shown a lack of respect to superior Black fighters whether it's through his commentary or post fight interviews.
