Further evidence that a super heavyweight division is unnecessary

no, if you look at both Tyson`s and Holyfield`s opposition you will see that a large majority of them were also somewhere around the 200-225 lb range. As time goes on that is less and less the case. Guys weighing 240lbs+ are more and more common, and the game needs to adjust.

    you`re contradicting yourself

FYI, the Olympics has two heavyweight divisions, 91k, and 91+K.

The 91K limit is a shade over 200 pounds, which is the crusier divison in the pros.

    The 91+K has no limit.

We don't need a super heavyweight divison.

If you eliminate cruiser, what's between 175 and 190?

This is unfair on pacman, he will never make 225lbs.

they should seperate the divisions, the new heavyweight division should start from scratch, 190-225 they could have a heavyweight tournament to figure out the champ, these days its the norm to see a 240+ fighter in the heavies, the smaller fighters are putting on unnecessary weight so they are not in such a big disadvantage, povetkin could lose 10 pounds and look very toned and in shape, as could chagaev and ibragimov, add to the mix the likes of haye and cunningham who can easily put a stone on, and you have yourself a fitter faster division, with fights that arent gonna show the fighters gassing.

No, you're just not taking the time to comprehend my posts.

Any heavyweight weighing 200-225 who can't hang with the big boys, has the option of cutting down to CW. Those that can hang stay at heavyweight. Regardless, the weight limits have been set and it's each individual fighter's decision to make.

What's so hard to understand/accept about that?

What this thread is proposing is reorganizing the divisions to accomodate a few boderline fighters that lack the talent to fight bigger men. That is ridiculous.

its like saying those that want to stay with the big boys can always move up from the heavyweight to superheavyweight division, it does not come down to skill when you outweighed by 40 pounds, how would pacman do against someone like calzaghe or even worse if he fought someone like kessler he would get broken in pieces it wouldnt be about his talent, which is why they have a division to accomodate him, just like they should with regards to a heavyweight limit.

the cruiserweight division can still exist just without the 25 pound differential from light heavyweight. besides boxing is changing it is near on impossible for a heavyweight to be on the p4p list can u imagine if a heavyweight unified the division, then had the chance to move up and fight the super heavyweights and become a multi weight world champion.

Pacman started out at 106 and has recently fought at 135, a 27% gain in weight. Boxers making the jump from 200 to 240 are only making a 20% gain; a significanlty smaller feat that what Pacman has accomplished.

    My point stands.

In the future, I suggest you read your posts before submitting them. This will help prevent you from posting jibberish to the forum. :good

but has pacman ever given away over half a foot. u r the one speaking jibberish, pacman has slowly gone up and has never been at a disadvantage of 40 pounds when he is in the ring with the opponent, now look at your post and realise how stupid it was

No i think it would be horrible fracturing the most iconic weight class in boxing and fighting sports period, also adding 4 more beltholders...

if they are going to change something... make cruiser higher... to like 210lbs or something...
