I'd move to get rid of the jr. and super divisions and create one division as a whole.

The reason some want to chance the weight is because big Eastern Euro fighters are winning, if the shoe were on the other foot, they would not complain.

**** no. There is precious little talent in the HW division as it is.

35lb weight advantages have been overcome and will be again.

You haven't answered any of my questions.

What do you think putting (traditionally) all the very worst fighters into a new flagship division might do for boxing?

What do you think 4 new heavyweight champions would do for boxing?

What do you think forcing the superstars of the future out of the flagship division would do for boxing?

IMO, It would weed out the out of shape smaller fighter's and force them to get in better shape, Also we would have less difference in both Ht & weight.

It would ruin the tradition of the Heavyweight division.
    (I never said it wouldn't)
But sometimes tradition has to be re-written.

Who know's for sure... I do know one thing tho.
The heavyweight division will have better conditioned atheletes
    and less Tye Fields.

    This ain't real McGrain...
just a lil' discussion Thread I made that's all.
And it's not to X out the large Euro's either.
It's to Put the big's vs. the big's.

If you want less divisions, then this is one of the best suggestions I have seen.

I would make the cruiserweight 200 or 205lbs, but the rest looks good.

Cruiser should be heavyweight. And it should be extended from 190 to 220lbs. 30 lbs sway.

Heavyweight would essentially be super heavyweight and that'd be 220lbs+

That's the way it ought to be.

    No.

All the superheavies of note over the years have lost to shorter and (usually) lighter men.

Extra-large fighters have their own problems to contend with in terms of hand co-ordination, stamina, movement and so on. The bigger = better theory doesn't hold up across the board, just in certain areas.

Do you see any fighter below 210 having a real chance at Heavy? The smaller Cruiserweights could drop down to Light Heavy at the new limit.

;) Make an 'ultra-heavyweight' division and let Valeuv, Butterbean and Toney fight it out.

This is what the people suggesting this want:
That the Americans that are not able to compete can have a division for themselves where they don't have to compete with the big Euros. The hope is that this would be the revival of the great Afro-American HW tradition.

This is what would actually happen:
Valuev would probably be champion at SHW if Wlad etc. chose to fight at HW. IF Wlad etc. fought at SHW they would be champs most likely. Now the large casual audience that make up the crowd that really pays for the big fights would be far more captivated by the biggest and best than by some "second-biggest" division. The cruiser and lhw divisions have never really been able to consistently compete with hw for the large audiences. The same would happen here. SHW would quickly become the division with natural aura of the 'beast division'.

And every other fat slob who is unwilling to train / lose weight.

The heavyweight division would be so live if we included the cruisers and got rid of the obese giants.
