I do think 15 rounds should be brought back, for a number of reasons, but just thinking about recent fights, I think a 12 round limit allows for fighters to be less active or "run" more. 12 round fights are much more rushed and is to the disadvantage if guys like Froch against movers like Dirrell. I think it encourages a pot shotting, less active, aggressive style because you can avoid engagement, steal 7 rounds and win a world title. I'd love to see longer fights come back into the sport, which are a true test of quality and determination.
i dont think half the world champions right not couldnt even have the stamina for 15 rounds, let alone be competitive. you may say its only 3 more rounds but i think it will be too much for the "soft" atheletes today.
Yes Spinks/taylor is a good example of this, Spinks tried to beat Taylor with ineffective aggression, it was as if he was trying to steal a fight on the premises that dominant compubox numbers is sure to give him the round. He threw hundreds of punches with no intentions of landing, measuring, or as a defensive measure. He was trying to steal the middleweight championship of the world and almost succeded.
I understand where you are coming from, but people have to let this 15 rounds thing go. It's never coming back. That time is over.
Do you know how hard it is to do 12 rounds mate? I fought 6 today at amatuer and it was ****ing solid
