So, I could have a long amateur boxing career if I didn't want to do Pro?

Theoretically yes, but you don't get paid and it costs money to travel to amateur tournaments. Its a waste if you aren't grooming yourself for the Olympics or Pro boxing.

How about the WSB? Or AIBA Pro?

I don't think you would have much success there. Those are geared towards non American boxers as far as I've seen. The United States has so many Amateur boxing opportunities like Golden Gloves, Olympics, and Pan Am games. Also, many other countries like Cuba, Russia, and the Eastern Bloc have programs specifically designed for Amateur Boxing and don't really have much pro boxing going on which will put you at a severe disadvantage especially since those guys train from kids. If I were you, I would go to a good quality gym and train like hell and after you have won some amateur tournaments in your region/the united states after a few years, I would move to a new city like Nyc, chicago, or LA and turn pro and see wherever it takes you. Don't expect to make a living off of it unless you win become a contender.

But I wouldn't listen to some people on the internet. Boxing is going to require alot of your attention if not all of it if you want to be anything. It is by no means easy and you can get screwed easily because you don't have any connections in the sport. Also, if you are a good amateur but don't want to turn pro, you could always become a sparring partner for top ranked boxers.

Seriously....4 pages of threads. If you need this much encouragement from total strangers on the internet...then i'll make it easy for you......no...you don't have what it takes. Boxing's a tough sport. Not for those who need some hand holding.
