Wow no love for Cotto, Listen iam not a fan of either fighter i just dont

think Trinidad was as great as everyone claims he is. Watched the De la

Hoya fight, watched the Joppy fight in person and just not a fan.

As I said, I like Cotto, but we're talking all time rankings here, not current rankings. If you're not up to par on your boxing history, it isn't really your place to be making definitive statements about where he ranks in it.

I don't think Cotto's even in the same league as Tito (among many others). In any regard, really. Resume, ability, dominance, any of it.

People need to define ATG because depending on the criterias he might already be there, close to it, or too far to make it.

If you say top 20 fighter at one weight or top 50. Or just overall p4p ranking disregarding weights. There have been so many great fighters over time so i think he can make the low humdreds right now. In his era i think he's right there with floyd and pac and just needing a couple of great fights to catch them. It depends on what you are looking for when you say ATG.

He's already a top 15 fighter in PR all time.

My idol? I suppose you're talking about Mayweather? Umm no its not. Mayweather beat 3 fighters ranked in the top 10 P4P. Cotto's best wins were Judah, a Floyd leftover and Mosley who Floyd beat more dominantly. Please tell me how Gomez and that British journeyman rank above Hatton, Marquez and Ortiz. Hell I'll even let you throw in his gift against Clottey.

Or you can admit you're a ****ing moron like most Cotto fans.

Sure it is, i just disagree on Trinidad vs Cotto i think their on par i dont

see looking at their record, their accomplishments, the quaility of their

oppostion and the way they won i just dont see the massive gap between

Trinidad and Cotto. But i do see the massive gap between Ortiz, Torres,

Benitez, Gomez and Trinidad. So Trinidad the fifth best fighter from Pr

and i never said Cotto was Puerto Rico greatest fighter just he's in my

    eyes on par with Trinidad

Several factors go into determining all-time great status: overall ability, dominance, longevity, resume, number of truly great fighters one has beaten, overall accomplishments, comparison to their contemporaries, etc. People have subjective standards as to just who can be considered an all-time great. Some are pretty strict and keep the club very exclusive. Others are pretty lenient.

Considering and weighing everything in his career, Cotto would make a top 500 boxers of all-time list. He has good ability, didn't really become a dominant champion, has enjoyed good longevity, has an okay resume (in comparison to the best of the best, not fighters today where he has one of the better ones), never really convincingly beat a truly great fighter in that fighter's prime, has excellent paper accomplishments as far as belts/divisional titles go, and was a level below the very best (Mayweather and Pacquiao) during a not-so-great era. Nothing truly stand out or great in the grand scheme of things. Definitely not top 100 or 200. If you want to call that all-time greatness, fine by me, as your standards would be different than mine, but I'd be more inclined to label him as a good, accomplished fighter. Nothing more, nothing less.

...coming from a big supporter of Miguel by the way.

He's a very good fighter, one of the best of his era, but not an ATG. it would be interesting for people to find some comparisons to him from the past.

it better be, considering 99% of his boxing career is at 140 and 147
