No, it is most certainly not true. It depends on the makeup of the boxer.

How they recover physically, which shouldn't be a huge problem for a youngish guy provided it was nothing horrific.

More important, mentally.

 

Of course it isn't universally true. Each fighter is different.

 

I think some fighters are never the same after they are pummeled. I think Jeff Lacey is an example, but I don't think it happens to everyone that takes a beating. I definitely think it's a question Cotto needs to answer in his next fight. Pavlik on the other hand got beat not beatdown.

Yes and No ... it depends, it some cases, you're not the same if you get beat down --

In other cases you can bounce back from a devastating defeat.

Marco Antonio Barerra bounced back from the defeat to Pacquiao but once he faced Pacquiao again ... he was reminded of that night when he recieved that beat down some time ago.

 

Depends on the fighter, Lennox was KO'D twice and cameback, Holy was beatdown by Bowe and cameback, Hears was KO'D by Leonard and came back to have a great career, it all depends on the fighter, and his mental makeup.

 

Thinking about it, Corrales came back a better fight imo for the first couple of years after his dismantling by PBF.

 

Depends on the fighter. Losing obviously diminishes a fighter's aura, but there's no reason they can't learn and improve after a loss.

 

Great Fighter's will come back, Average fighters will never be the same!
