Is it true that Roy Jones made no money in the Hopkins fight?

i dont know i remember when he started boxing and he didnt really need the money then so is it possible....he enjoys fighting?

 

He deserves it due to several reasons:

1. He keeps fighting when he should have retired long ago. If he made money in his last fight, all the more he would think he still has it.

2. He should have fought Hopkins 9 years ago when it really mattered.

3. He is a boring fighter with no killer instinct. **** him.

 

This happened because Jones AND Hopkins both overestimated their current importance & relevance. It's another example why you really shouldn't make build up fights if the big money is set. I, for one, am glad their egos finally came back to haunt them.

 

With their PPV doing so poorly, considering the shocker they managed to put on, what PPV future would either have now?

 

It shouldn't have too bad an effect on their future PPV sales considering nobody bothered to watch this fight.

It would have to do better than 125k buys for Jones to see any money, 275k for Jones to see his full purse.

145k buys would mean Jones only got like $350k-500K, he got paid but nowhere near to what he was expecting

Why feel bad For him if he didn't make anything?. For years he was getting paid millions for fighting No hopers and fighters that had no business being in the ring with him. he didn't give us fights the fans wanted when we wanted them and he was not willing to let it all out in the ring. Who gives a **** if he got Piad . In the End it all came back to him . hell even HBO shafted him in the end not branding the PPV

 

He got a 5 figure check.

 

Hopkins is also guilty of all three of the things you mentioned , and since he fought like a punk in the fight, you actually think he deserved all the money?

 

I believe he got something for this fight. It might not have been immediate cash but he must have gotten something, whether it is under card spots for his promotion company on Golden Boy Cards, But he must have gotten something because Roy isn't an idiot and he doesn't run a charity.
