No idea, but Wlad floated the idea of getting a December fight in.

I assumed he would be fighting a big and not a midget.

It possible I guess, but Wlad'll just get slated for it. Denis is off everyone's radar now, and it will (justifiably) be wondered wtf he's done to deserve it.

Not that I don't think Denis could be a top contender, but after a coupla years stuck in promotional limbo, Denis needs a coupla fights to build up his career and try to get back on track.

I'm sure I heard rumours not so long ago about Denis fighting some 2nd tier journeyman next (forget who).

Anyhows Wlad has just demonstrated that he knows what to do with short stocky fighters who need to get inside. And Denis doesn't even seem to have the conditioning right now, kid seriously needs to get back in the gym from the last pics I saw.

The only plus point is that Denis would get his name in the news - 'cept not in a good way.

I'm not sure about him getting slated. Taking on another long-heralded unbeaten Russian, this one actually smack in the middle of his prime, such a short time after his last defense is actually not a bad way to rebuild some public goodwill. The fact that Boytsov's pro career has been such a stop and go affair without much to show for it won't matter too much. He is still better than just about every ranked contender available (like Povetkin was) and is the best Wlad can really come up with at present.

    It's not true.

Wladimir wanted to fight three times in 2013, but it turned out to be impossible to return as quickly as December.

Wlad's next fight will be in March or April 2014 against his IBF mandatory Kubrat Pulev.

    Just curious, but why impossible?

Why impossible? Past champions were able to fight much more often as a whole. In the last decade Wlad has averaged fighting less than two and a half times a year. This is a major reason the division has fallen off so much.

CHEF would know the details better than I. My sources are just what I translate from Ukrainian, German and Russian websites.

It has something to do with promoting the fight, TV dates, etc. I was hoping he'd fight Odlanier Solis (Ring #9) in December, because Oner is very willing and it would be an easy fight to make. Klitschko-Boytsov would be difficult to make because of Sauerland-K-2 rivalry and he's not an ideal opponent right now anyway.

But Bonte has recently said in interviews the next fight will be in the early spring of 2014.

This may be true, but as in many things it's the perception that counts, and for most people unfamiliar with the circumstances, Boytsov's just an ex-contender whose name disappeared a coupla of years ago. The general thought would be that Wlad'ld be taking on an easy touch, no matter what the actual truth.

:think You are probably not wrong...and that begs the question, what exactly COULD he do that would be above reproach?

    I am thinking honestly nothing.

Wlad stated that the date of the next fight is pushed to the next year because Povetkin fight didn't happen in September as was planned. I guess if Vitali does not interfere then Wlad will fight sooner.

It happened in the beginning of October. A couple of weeks makes that big a deal? I thought this was a guy who stayed in fighting shape year round?
